• Difficulty: 3/10 - This is a straightforward driveway bolt-on for the 2011-2018 Dodge Charger 3.6L, but Dodge’s factory plastics can be notoriously brittle. Patience is key when handling the delicate factory sensors.

Tools You Will Need

• 10mm wrench (for the battery terminal located in the trunk)
• 8mm deep socket & ratchet (for the factory and aftermarket hose clamps)
• 10mm socket & extension (for the factory airbox mounting bolt)
• Panel popper / trim removal tool (to safely pry the IAT wire harness clip)
• Flathead screwdriver (for gently assisting the stubborn PCV breather line)

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench to prevent check engine lights. Remember, the battery on the 2011-2018 Dodge Charger 3.6L is located under the load floor in the trunk.
2. Unplug the IAT Sensor: Locate the IAT sensor on the factory intake tube. Depress the locking tab and pull the connector off. Use your panel popper to carefully pry the wire harness retaining clip out of the plastic tube so the wire is entirely free.
3. Remove the PCV Breather Hose: At the back of the factory airbox, locate the PCV breather line. Push the release button on the fitting and pull it straight off. If it’s stuck, gently assist the lip with a flathead screwdriver, but do not pry hard on the brittle Mopar plastic.
4. Loosen the Throttle Body Clamp: Grab your 8mm deep socket and loosen the hose clamp securing the factory resonator tube to the throttle body lip.
5. Extract the Factory Airbox: Remove the single 10mm socket bolt securing the front of the airbox to the core support. Once the bolt is out, lift the entire airbox and tube assembly straight up to pop it out of the lower rubber mounting grommets.
6. Remove the IAT Sensor: With the factory intake safely on your workbench, carefully twist the IAT sensor counter-clockwise and pull it out to transfer it to your aftermarket setup.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Dodge Charger (2011-2018) 3.6L V6 Engine Blue

1. Install the IAT Sensor: Push the supplied rubber grommet into the pre-drilled hole on your new blue intake tube. Carefully push your factory IAT sensor into the grommet. Use a gentle twisting motion and never press directly on the delicate sensor tip.
2. Mount the Heat Shield: Drop your new heat shield into the factory location, lining up the bottom pegs with the factory rubber grommets. Secure it to the core support using your 10mm socket and the provided hardware.
3. Secure the Blue Intake Tube: Slide the provided silicone coupler over the throttle body and tighten the inner clamp with an 8mm socket. Insert the new blue intake tube through the heat shield and into the throttle body coupler. Tighten all clamps firmly with your 8mm socket.
4. Attach Filter and Connections: Install the blue high-flow cone filter onto the end of the tube inside the heat shield and secure it with the 8mm socket. Push the factory PCV breather hose onto the new tube fitting until it clicks. Reconnect the IAT sensor wire harness.
5. Reconnect Battery and Initialize: Reconnect the negative battery terminal in the trunk using your 10mm wrench. Start the vehicle, but do not touch the gas pedal for 20 seconds. Allow the ECU to read the IAT sensor and adapt to the new airflow volume without throwing a check engine code.
