Feeling that stock engine responsiveness hold back your modern Mopar? Imagine instant throttle feedback and a deeper growl, transforming every drive into a more engaging experience.

Performance Cold Air Intake System for Dodge Charger, Challenger, and Chrysler 300 (3.6L Pentastar V6)

The factory intake system on your 3.6L Pentastar V6 Charger, Challenger, or 300 is designed for broad appeal, not peak performance. Its restrictive air box and narrow, convoluted ducting choke the engine’s ability to breathe freely, limiting both power and throttle response.

This high-flow cold air intake system completely re-engineers your induction path, allowing your engine to inhale a larger, more consistent volume of colder, denser air. By replacing the bottlenecks with mandrel-bent T304 lightweight aluminum piping and a high-flow synthetic filter, you’ll experience an immediate surge in horsepower and torque – potentially up to 10% – along with sharper throttle response and a much more aggressive engine note.

Why You Need This Upgrade

  • Maximized Airflow: Replaces narrow factory ducting with a high-flow pathway to satisfy the V6 engine’s demand for air, boosting overall efficiency.
  • Instantaneous Throttle Response: Eliminates the "laggy" feeling of the stock intake for more immediate power delivery and sharper acceleration.
  • Optimized Air Density: Features a heavy-duty heat shield strategically designed to block ambient engine heat and prevent power-robbing heat soak.
  • Sporty Engine Acoustics: Enhances the vehicle’s acoustic character with a powerful, sporty intake growl during acceleration.
  • Premium Durability: Built with premium T304 aluminum piping to resist heat soak and ensure long-term performance reliability and a clean engine bay aesthetic.

Installation & Tools

The Wrench Time: 2011-2023 Dodge Chrysler Challenger Charger 300 3.6L

  • Estimated Time: 45-60 Minutes
  • Difficulty: 3/10 - A straightforward driveway bolt-on, but requires extremely delicate handling of the plastic factory IAT sensor to avoid snapping the locking tab.

Tools You Will Need

  • 10mm wrench or socket (for battery terminal and heat shield hardware)
  • 8mm socket and 1/4-inch drive ratchet (for factory airbox bolt and hose clamps)
  • 5/16" nut driver or flathead screwdriver (alternative for worm-gear clamps)
  • 4mm Allen wrench (for assembling the aftermarket heat shield)
  • Panel popper tool (to safely remove the plastic push-clips on the factory air scoop)
Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The biggest headache on the 3.6L Pentastar platform is the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor. It is incredibly brittle and does not pull straight out of the factory tube. If you pry or yank it, the locking tab will snap instantly, throwing a Check Engine Light (CEL). You must gently press and twist it counter-clockwise a quarter-turn to release it. Always lightly lubricate the O-ring with clean engine oil before pushing it into the new aftermarket grommet so it doesn’t bind or tear.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal (located in the trunk on the LX/LC chassis) using a 10mm wrench to prevent check engine lights and allow the ECU to reset.
  2. Unplug the IAT Sensor and Breather: Locate the IAT sensor on the factory intake tube. Carefully depress the tab and unplug the wiring harness. Next, locate the factory crankcase breather hose connected to the airbox. Push the grey release tab and slide the hose off the fitting.
  3. Remove the Core Support Trim: Use your panel popper tool to remove the plastic push-clips holding the factory air scoop to the front radiator core support.
  4. Loosen the Throttle Body Clamp: Grab your 8mm socket or 5/16" nut driver and loosen the worm-gear clamp securing the bulky factory resonator tube to the throttle body.
  5. Pull the Factory Airbox: Remove the single factory mounting bolt holding the airbox to the inner fender using an 8mm socket. Grab the entire airbox and resonator assembly and pull firmly straight up to pop it out of the factory rubber mounting grommets. Remove it from the engine bay.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Dodge Challenger Charger / Chrysler 300 (2011-2023) 3.6L - Blue

  1. Assemble the Heat Shield: Put together your new aftermarket heat shield using the supplied hardware. Use your 4mm Allen wrench and a 10mm wrench to tighten the brackets. Press the provided rubber weather-stripping along the top edge of the shield to seal it against the hood and prevent rattling. Install the heat shield into the factory rubber grommets and bolt it down using the 8mm socket.
  2. Transfer the IAT Sensor: Carefully twist the factory IAT sensor counter-clockwise to remove it from the OEM tube. Install the supplied rubber grommet into your new Blue intake tube. Lightly lubricate the sensor’s O-ring, and gently push it fully into the new grommet.
  3. Mount the Silicone Coupler: Slide the provided silicone coupler onto the throttle body and tighten the first clamp down securely with your 8mm socket. Slide the new Blue intake tube into the other end of the coupler, routing the front of the tube into the heat shield compartment. Keep the second clamp slightly loose for adjustment.
  4. Connect the Filter and Breather: Attach the high-flow air filter to the end of the tube inside the heat shield, tightening its clamp with the 8mm socket. Connect the provided crankcase breather hose from the engine valve cover to the newly installed intake tube fitting. Once everything is aligned properly, tighten down the remaining throttle body clamp.
  5. Reconnect and Calibrate: Reconnect the wiring harness to your newly transferred IAT sensor until it clicks. Reconnect your negative battery terminal in the trunk with the 10mm wrench. On the very first startup, turn the key to the ON position, start the engine, and do not touch the gas pedal for at least 20 seconds. Let the vehicle idle so the ECU can properly adjust the fuel trims to the increased airflow volume.
