Unlock the true potential of your Pentastar V6; feel the immediate surge of power and crisp throttle response that transforms every drive. Say goodbye to the sluggish factory intake and embrace a more dynamic, exhilarating connection with your Challenger or Charger.

Performance Cold Air Intake for Dodge Challenger/Charger (3.6L V6) Red

The factory air intake system in your 2011-2018 Dodge Challenger or Charger with the 3.6L Pentastar V6 is designed for quiet operation and cost-effectiveness, not peak performance. Its restrictive air box, corrugated tubing, and pleated paper filter severely limit airflow, forcing your engine to work harder to breathe and stifling its true potential.

This high-flow cold air intake system specifically addresses these limitations, replacing the bottlenecking stock components with a streamlined induction path. By allowing your 3.6L V6 engine to draw in a larger volume of cooler, denser air with significantly less effort, it optimizes the combustion process, leading to a noticeable boost in horsepower, torque, and throttle responsiveness. You’ll experience a more energetic acceleration and a deeper, more aggressive induction growl under load, bringing the performance spirit to your modern Mopar.

Why You Need This Upgrade

  • Unrestricted Induction: Replaces narrow factory ducting with a high-flow pathway, ensuring your V6 engine gets all the air it demands for optimal performance.
  • Instant Throttle Feedback: Eliminates the "laggy" feeling of the stock intake for more immediate power delivery and sharper, more responsive acceleration.
  • Thermal Management: Features a heavy-duty heat shield strategically designed to block ambient engine heat and prevent power-robbing heat soak.
  • Aggressive Sound Profile: Enhances your vehicle’s acoustic character with a powerful, sporty intake growl that makes spirited driving even more engaging.
  • Durable Construction: Built with premium T304 lightweight aluminum piping, it resists heat soak and ensures long-term performance reliability for years to come.

Installation & Tools

The Wrench Time

  • Estimated Time: 30-45 Minutes
  • Difficulty: 3/10 - Basic bolt-on, but requires a delicate touch with fragile factory sensors.

Tools You Will Need

  • 10mm socket and ratchet (Battery terminal, factory airbox mount)
  • 10mm wrench (Battery terminal alternative)
  • 8mm socket or 5/16" nut driver (Hose clamps)
  • Panel popper tool (For radiator shroud push-pins)
  • Silicone spray or soapy water (To help seat the sensor into the new rubber grommet)
Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The factory Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor on the Pentastar V6 is incredibly brittle. When removing it from the OEM tube, do NOT pry it with a screwdriver. Gently lift the locking tab, give it a quarter-turn counter-clockwise, and pull straight out. If you snap this fragile plastic tip, your Mopar will throw a CEL and you are walking to the parts store. Also, treat the plastic PCV breather hose tab with care—squeeze gently, don’t rip it off!

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench or 10mm socket to prevent check engine lights on your 2011-2018 Dodge Challenger Charger 3.6L.
  2. Unplug and Remove the IAT Sensor: Locate the IAT sensor on the factory intake tube. Disconnect the wiring harness. Carefully twist the sensor a quarter-turn counter-clockwise and pull it straight out of the plastic tube. Set it aside in a safe, clean spot.
  3. Disconnect the PCV Breather Hose: Locate the breather hose connected to the side of the factory intake. Gently squeeze the grey/green plastic retaining clip and pull the hose straight off the fitting.
  4. Loosen the Throttle Body Clamp: Using your 8mm socket, loosen the factory hose clamp securing the intake tube to the throttle body.
  5. Extract the Factory Airbox: Remove the single mounting bolt on the lower airbox housing using a 10mm socket. Grab the entire factory airbox assembly and pull firmly straight up to pop it out of the lower rubber alignment grommets. Remove the whole unit from the engine bay.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Dodge Challenger/Charger (2011-2018) 3.6L V6 Engine Red

  1. Assemble and Mount the Heat Shield: Assemble the new heat shield using the supplied hardware and press the rubber edge trim around the top rim. Drop the assembly into the factory lower rubber alignment grommets and secure it to the chassis using your 10mm socket.
  2. Transfer the IAT Sensor: Push the supplied rubber grommet into the pre-drilled hole on your new red intake tube. Apply a single drop of soapy water or silicone spray to the grommet, then gently push the factory IAT sensor into the hole until fully seated. Do not force it.
  3. Prep the Throttle Body: Slide the new silicone coupler over the throttle body. Secure the inner clamp with your 8mm socket, leaving the outer clamp loosely in place for the new tube.
  4. Install the Intake Assembly: Insert the red intake tube into the throttle body coupler and route it through the heat shield opening. Install the red performance air filter onto the end of the tube. Tighten all remaining hose clamps securely using your 8mm socket. Click the PCV breather hose onto the new machined fitting on the tube.
  5. Final Connections and Relearn: Reconnect the IAT sensor wiring harness. Reconnect the negative battery terminal with your 10mm wrench. Start the engine. Do not touch the gas pedal for 20 seconds. Let the vehicle idle so the ECU can properly adjust to the increased airflow of your 2011-2018 Dodge Challenger Charger 3.6L.
