High-Performance Cold Air Intake System for 2001-2005 Chrysler Sebring & Dodge Stratus (Coupe)
Unlock the Hidden Potential of Your Engine
Your 2001-2005 Chrysler Sebring or Dodge Stratus Coupe shares its DNA with legendary tuner platforms, built with robust Mitsubishi-engineered 2.4L and 3.0L engines. But from the factory, that sporty potential is choked off by a restrictive, sound-dampening air box. It’s time to let your engine breathe.
Imagine merging onto the highway or pulling away from a stoplight and feeling an instant, responsive surge of power. This Cold Air Intake System is designed to replace your restrictive stock intake with high-flow T304 aluminum piping and a high-efficiency filtration cone. The result? A deeper, aggressive engine growl and a throttle response that makes driving fun again.
Why Upgrade to This Cold Air Intake?
- Instant Power Gains: Engineered to boost horsepower and torque by up to 10% by delivering a denser, cooler air charge to your engine.
- Aggressive Sound: Eliminates the factory baffles to reveal a deep, sporty tone that roars when you step on the gas but stays civilized at cruise.
- Built to Last: Constructed from lightweight, corrosion-resistant T304 aluminum for a show-quality finish that dresses up your engine bay.
- Save Money Over Time: Features a washable, reusable high-flow air filter. No more buying disposable paper filters—just clean and re-oil every 50,000 miles.
- Plug-and-Play Performance: Designed to work with your factory ECU. No tuning required, and it will not void your vehicle warranty.

Installation & Tools
Installation & Tools
The Wrench Time
- Estimated Time: 45-60 Minutes
- Difficulty: 3/10 - Straightforward bolt-on upgrade with basic hand tools.
Tools You Will Need
- 10mm socket & ratchet (with 6-inch extension)
- 12mm socket (for factory chassis bracket bolts)
- 8mm nut driver or flathead screwdriver (for worm-gear hose clamps)
- Pliers (for factory spring-tension vacuum clamps)
- Panel popper tool or flat pry bar (for splash shield plastic clips)
The 2-door coupe variant of the 2001-2005 Chrysler Sebring 2.4L/3.0L utilizes a Mitsubishi-derived platform (ST-22 chassis) equipped with an extremely sensitive Karman Vortex Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor assembly. Never touch the internal honeycomb or hot-wire elements, and never use harsh solvent cleaners on it. When unbolting the MAF housing from the OEM airbox, support the weight of the sensor so you do not snap the brittle factory plastic mounting tabs or strain the wiring pigtail.
Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part
- Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench to prevent check engine lights and clear stored fuel trim data on your 2001-2005 Chrysler Sebring 2.4L 3.0L.
- Disconnect the MAF Sensor: Slide back the safety lock tab on the MAF harness connector and depress the release clip to gently unplug the electrical connector from the sensor housing.
- Remove Breather Hoses: Using a pair of pliers, squeeze the spring clamps on the factory crankcase breather hose(s) attached to the stock rubber intake tube and slide them back, then pull the hoses free from their barbs.
- Loosen Intake Clamps: Use an 8mm nut driver or flathead screwdriver to loosen the hose clamp securing the intake tube to the throttle body inlet.
- Unbolt the Factory Airbox: Remove the factory airbox mounting bolts using a 10mm socket. Carefully unbolt the MAF sensor housing from the upper airbox lid using a 10mm socket and set the sensor aside in a clean, safe area.
- Extract the OEM Assembly: Lift the stock intake tract and airbox out of the engine bay. If your kit routes into the lower fender well, use a panel popper to release the driver-side splash guard retaining pins to unbolt and drop the factory lower intake resonator box using a 10mm socket.
Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake
- Mount the Throttle Body Coupler: Slide the provided silicone coupler onto the throttle body and secure it loosely with an 8mm nut driver.
- Assemble the MAF Adapter: Bolt the aftermarket MAF adapter bracket to your factory MAF sensor housing using the supplied hardware and a 10mm socket, ensuring the rubber gasket creates an airtight seal without pinching.
- Position the Intake Piping: Guide the new intake pipe into the engine bay, joining one end to the throttle body coupler and the other to the MAF assembly/filter inlet. Secure the pipe to the factory mounting hole on the inner fender wall using the included vibration-dampening rubber mount and a 10mm socket or 12mm socket.
- Attach Filter and Vacuum Connections: Slide the high-flow cone filter onto the intake/MAF outlet and tighten the clamp firmly using an 8mm nut driver. Reattach the factory valve cover breather hose to the new intake pipe’s vacuum barb and secure it with pliers.
- Reconnect Electrical and Battery: Plug the factory MAF wiring harness firmly back into the sensor until it clicks, sliding the safety lock forward. Reconnect the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench.
- ECU Idle Relearn Protocol: Start the vehicle. Do NOT touch the gas pedal for at least 20 to 30 seconds (ideally allow the engine to idle freely for 5 minutes) so the ECU can adapt and properly relearn idle trims with the increased airflow.
