Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The factory cab-forward design of the 1993-1997 Eagle Vision creates a tight engine bay that bakes plastic parts. The OEM accordion intake tube is notorious for cracking underneath, causing unmetered air leaks and rough idles. When you pull the factory tube, be extremely careful with the IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor. The plastic base is heat-cycled and brittle. Twist it gently to break the seal before pulling. Never pull by the wires!

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench to prevent check engine lights.
  2. Unplug the Sensor: Locate the IAT sensor on the factory intake tube. Carefully unplug the wiring harness, then use a panel popper or gentle leverage to pry the sensor out of the rubber grommet. Set it safely aside.
  3. Loosen the Clamps: Grab your 8mm nut driver and loosen the hose clamps securing the factory accordion tube to the throttle body and the factory airbox lid.
  4. Disconnect the PCV: Use slip-joint pliers to compress the clamp on the PCV breather hose and slide it off the nipple on the factory intake tube.
  5. Remove the Airbox: Pull the factory intake tube out of the engine bay. Next, use a 10mm socket to remove the bolts anchoring the lower factory airbox to the inner fender, and lift the entire assembly out of the vehicle.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Eagle Vision (1993-1997) 3.3L / 3.5L V6 Engines

  1. Prep the Throttle Body: Slide the provided silicone coupler onto the throttle body. Secure it loosely using the supplied clamps and your 8mm nut driver.
  2. Transfer the IAT Sensor: Carefully press the factory IAT sensor into the new rubber grommet on your aftermarket intake tube. Add a drop of clean engine oil to the sensor’s O-ring so it slides into the tight aluminum piping without tearing.
  3. Mount the Intake Tube: Guide the new intake tube into the engine bay. Slide the top end into the throttle body coupler. Attach the new high-flow cone filter to the opposite end and tighten all clamps firmly with the 8mm nut driver.
