Unleash the dormant power in your Chrysler 300’s 2.7L V6 and experience driving like it was meant to be. Feel the immediate surge of responsive power and a thrilling growl under acceleration, transforming every drive into an engaging experience.

Performance Cold Air Intake for Chrysler 300 (2.7L V6)

The factory air intake system on your 2005-2010 Chrysler 300 with the 2.7L V6 engine is engineered for silence and cost-efficiency, not maximum performance. Its restrictive design, often featuring convoluted piping and a choked airbox, creates a bottleneck that limits the crucial volume of cold, dense air your engine needs to truly breathe and perform at its best, especially during spirited driving or highway passing.

This Ver.2 Performance Cold Air Intake system is precision-engineered to eliminate those factory restrictions. By providing a direct, high-flow path for cooler, denser air, it allows your 2.7L V6 engine to draw in a significantly larger volume of oxygen. This optimization results in more complete combustion, unlocking the hidden horsepower and torque that have been held back, giving you a more immediate throttle response and a noticeable boost in overall performance for your Chrysler 300.

Why You Need This Upgrade

  • Increased Horsepower & Torque: Unlock measurable gains in power across the RPM range, making your Chrysler 300 feel more alive.
  • Sharper Throttle Response: Experience a more immediate and responsive connection between your foot and the engine, improving acceleration.
  • Enhanced Engine Sound: Enjoy a deeper, more aggressive V6 engine note, especially under heavy acceleration, without being overly intrusive during normal driving.
  • Improved Fuel Efficiency: By optimizing the air-to-fuel mixture and combustion process, some drivers may experience slight improvements in fuel economy.
  • Superior Filtration: Features a high-flow, performance air filter designed to protect your engine from harmful debris while maximizing airflow.

Installation & Tools

The Wrench Time

  • Estimated Time: 45-60 Minutes
  • Difficulty: 3/10 - Basic hand tools, but requires careful handling of brittle factory plastics and sensors.

Tools You Will Need

  • 10mm Socket & Ratchet (For the battery terminal and factory airbox mounting bolt)
  • 8mm Socket or Nut Driver (For factory and aftermarket worm-gear hose clamps)
  • 13mm Socket (For fender/core support bracket mounts)
  • Flathead Screwdriver (For gently prying harness locking tabs)
  • Silicone Spray or Soapy Water (To safely seat the delicate sensor into the new grommet)
Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
On the early LX platform, the 2.7L engine bay gets notoriously hot. This bakes the factory PCV breather hose and the plastic IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor locking tab. When removing the factory IAT sensor, DO NOT twist it by the connector wires. Use a Flathead Screwdriver to gently lift the locking tab, push in slightly, then pull. If you muscle it, you will snap the fragile plastic tip off directly into the intake manifold.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory 2005-2010 Chrysler 300 2.7L OEM Intake

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm socket or wrench. This prevents check engine lights and resets the PCM’s adaptive memory so the computer can learn the new airflow parameters.
  2. Unplug the IAT Sensor: Locate the IAT sensor on the factory hard-plastic intake tube. Slide the red locking tab back, carefully press the release clip, and disconnect the wiring harness.
  3. Disconnect the Breather Hose: Carefully detach the factory crankcase breather hose from the side of the airbox. These harden over time, so pull straight out while twisting slightly to avoid snapping the plastic nipple.
  4. Loosen the Throttle Body Clamp: Take your 8mm socket or a Flathead Screwdriver and fully loosen the worm-gear clamp securing the factory intake tube to the throttle body.
  5. Extract the Factory Airbox: Remove the single hold-down bolt on the lower front of the airbox using a 10mm socket. Grab the entire airbox assembly with both hands and pull straight up to pop it free from the lower rubber mounting grommets.
  6. Harvest the IAT Sensor: Carefully twist and pull the factory IAT sensor out of the OEM intake tube. Set it aside in a safe, clean spot—you will absolutely need to reuse this on the new intake.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Chrysler 300 (2005-2010) 2.7L V6 Engine

  1. Transfer the IAT Sensor: Install the supplied rubber grommet into the pre-drilled hole on your new aftermarket intake tube. Apply a tiny drop of Silicone Spray or soapy water to the O-ring of your factory IAT sensor and gently press it into the grommet. Ensure the sensor tip points directly into the path of the airflow.
  2. Install the Throttle Body Coupler: Slide the provided silicone coupler over the throttle body. Secure it loosely using the supplied T-bolt or worm-gear clamp and your 8mm socket. Do not fully tighten it yet to leave room for adjustment.
  3. Mount the Heat Shield: Assemble your aftermarket heat shield with the provided weather stripping. Lower it into the engine bay, utilizing the factory airbox mounting points. Secure it to the core support using your 10mm socket and 13mm socket depending on the supplied hardware.
  4. Route the Intake Tube and Filter: Guide the new intake tube through the heat shield opening and slip it into the throttle body coupler. Attach your new high-flow conical filter to the end of the tube. Once aligned to clear all pulleys, belts, and hoses, tighten all clamps completely with your 8mm socket.
  5. Reconnect Hoses and Harnesses: Attach the supplied crankcase breather hose from the engine block port to the new intake tube fitting. Reconnect the IAT sensor wiring harness, ensuring you push the red locking clip back down to secure it.
  6. The First Startup Protocol: Reconnect your negative battery terminal using the 10mm wrench. Turn the key to the ON position (without starting the engine) for 10 seconds. Then, start the engine. CRITICAL: Do not touch the gas pedal for at least 20 seconds. Let the vehicle idle so the ECU can properly adjust the fuel trims to the new, higher-volume airflow data coming from the relocated IAT sensor.
