Performance Cold Air Intake Induction Kit for 2005–2010 Chevy Cobalt 2.2L/2.4L
Unleash the hidden potential of your Ecotec engine and transform your daily drive.
Your Chevy Cobalt was designed as a successor to the Cavalier, built on the robust Delta platform to offer a reliable, spirited driving experience. However, whether you are driving the LS or LT, the factory-installed airbox on your 2.2L or 2.4L engine was designed for silence, not performance. It restricts airflow, essentially making your engine try to breathe through a straw.
This Performance Cold Air Intake Induction Kit is the upgrade your Cobalt has been waiting for. By replacing the restrictive stock intake with high-velocity piping and a high-flow filter, you allow your engine to inhale a larger volume of cool, dense air. The result? The throttle response you need for highway merging, improved fuel efficiency for the commute, and the sporty sound that the Ecotec engine was meant to make.
Key Features & Benefits at a Glance
- Maximize Your Power: Experience a boost in horsepower and torque by up to 10%. Feel the difference when you step on the gas.
- Sharper Throttle Response: Eliminates the "lag" caused by factory air restrictions, giving you immediate acceleration when the light turns green.
- Engineered Efficiency: By optimizing the air-to-fuel ratio with denser air, you improve the combustion cycle, which can lead to better fuel economy during cruising.
- Aggressive Engine Tone: Ditch the quiet hum. Under heavy throttle, this intake gives your Cobalt a deep, throaty growl that sounds aggressive but remains civilized at idle.
- Ultimate Protection: The high-flow performance air filter shields your internal components from road debris while ensuring maximum oxygen delivery.

Installation & Pro-Tip
This kit is designed for the DIY enthusiast. You can install it in your garage with standard hand tools—no custom tuning required immediately.
⚠️ Crucial Installation Step: Before you begin, disconnect the NEGATIVE GROUND CABLE from your battery. Leave it disconnected for the duration of the install (at least 15 minutes). This clears the old airflow data from your ECU. When you reconnect it after installation, the computer will "re-learn" the new parameters, ensuring you get the maximum performance gains from your new intake immediately.
Ready to upgrade your ride? Give your Cobalt the air it needs to breathe and feel the power difference today.

Installation & Tools
Installation & Tools
The Wrench Time
- Estimated Time: 45-60 Minutes
- Difficulty: 2/10 - Beginner friendly, basic hand tools needed.
Tools You Will Need
- 10mm Socket with Ratchet and 6" Extension (Battery and airbox mounts)
- Flathead Screwdriver or 8mm Nut Driver (For hose clamps)
- T20 Torx Bit (REQUIRED for MAF sensor transfer)
- Pliers (For the crankcase breather hose clamp)
- Panel Popper or Flathead (For harness clips)
The 2.2L/2.4L Ecotec MAF sensor is incredibly sensitive. When transferring it from the factory housing, do not touch the exposed wire bulb or resistor with your fingers. The oils from your skin can cause reading errors and a Check Engine Light. Also, on 2.4L models, watch out for the secondary air injection hose; it’s brittle and likes to crack if you yank the airbox too hard.
Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part
- Disconnect the Battery: Start by isolating the electrical system. Use a 10mm socket to disconnect the negative terminal. This resets the ECU fuel trims for the new airflow.
- Disconnect the Sensor: Locate the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor on the intake tube. Slide the red locking tab back, squeeze the clip, and pull the harness free. Use a panel popper if the wire loom is clipped to the airbox.
- Detach Hoses: Use a pair of pliers to pinch the clamp on the crankcase breather hose (PCV) and slide it off the intake tube. If your vehicle has a Secondary Air Injection (SAI) tube, disconnect that now.
- Remove the Airbox: Loosen the hose clamp at the throttle body using a flathead screwdriver or 8mm driver. Pull the intake tube off the throttle body. The main airbox is held in by rubber grommets; pull strictly upwards to pop it free from the engine bay.
Phase 2: Installing the Upgrade
- Transfer the MAF Sensor: This is the most critical step. Use a T20 Torx bit to remove the two screws holding the MAF sensor in the stock housing. Carefully slide it into the new intake pipe. Note the direction of airflow (the open side of the bulb faces the filter). Secure it with the supplied hardware.
- Install the Coupler: Slide the silicone reducer coupler onto the throttle body. Tighten the throttle-body-side clamp using a flathead screwdriver or 8mm socket, but leave the intake-tube-side clamp loose for adjustment.
- Mount the Intake Tube: Insert the intake tube into the silicone coupler. Reconnect the PCV breather hose (and SAI hose if equipped) to the new pipe nipples. Adjust the pipe rotation so it does not rub against the fuse box or fender.
- Final Lockdown: Install the air filter onto the end of the pipe. Once everything is aligned, tighten the remaining hose clamps firmly. Reconnect the MAF sensor harness and finally, reconnect the negative battery terminal with your 10mm socket.
