Installation Note: After installation, disconnect the negative battery terminal for approximately 30 seconds to allow the engine control unit (ECU) to reset. Filter Maintenance

Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The 2010-2015 Chevrolet Camaro SS 6.2L has two notorious installation traps. First, the factory PCV breather tube attached to the intake is made of brittle plastic that heat-cycles over time; yanking it will snap the retaining clip. Depress the grey tab fully and wiggle it gently. Second, putting the MAF sensor in backwards is a classic 5th Gen forum headache that will immediately throw a Check Engine Light (CEL) and cause a violently rough idle. Always ensure the MAF arrow points toward the throttle body!

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Head to the trunk (where the 5th Gen battery lives), lift the spare tire cover, and disconnect the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench. This prevents check engine lights and resets the ECU’s fuel trims.
  2. Unplug the MAF Sensor: Locate the Mass Airflow Sensor on the factory intake tube. Slide the red locking tab back, press down on the release clip, and gently pull the harness free.
  3. Disconnect the PCV Breather: Locate the hard plastic PCV line connecting the passenger valve cover to the intake tube. Push in the grey release tab and gently pull it off the intake. Do not force it.
  4. Loosen the Throttle Body Clamp: Use your 8mm socket or nut driver to loosen the hose clamp securing the factory intake tube to the throttle body.
  5. Unbolt and Remove the Factory Airbox: Locate the single retaining stud on the driver’s side fender well holding the airbox down. Remove the nut using a 10mm deep socket. Grab the entire factory airbox assembly and yank firmly upward to pop it out of the lower rubber mounting grommets.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Chevy Camaro SS (2010-2015) 6.2L V8 Engine

  1. Assemble the New Heat Shield: Before dropping parts into the engine bay, assemble the aftermarket heat shield and rubber weatherstripping on your workbench. Drop the new assembly into the engine bay, aligning it with the factory rubber grommets, and secure it using the provided hardware and your 10mm socket.
  2. Transfer the MAF Sensor: Using a T20 Torx driver, carefully remove the two tiny screws holding the MAF sensor in the OEM tube. CRITICAL: Do not touch the internal wire elements of the sensor. Transfer it to your new aftermarket intake tube. Ensure the flow indicator arrow on the sensor points TOWARDS the throttle body. Tighten the screws snugly, but do not overtighten and strip the plastic.
  3. Install the Silicone Couplers: Slide the provided silicone couplers over the throttle body and the new intake tube. Slip the new hose clamps over the couplers but leave them loose for adjustment.
  4. Mount the Intake Tube: Drop the newly assembled intake tube into the heat shield and slide it into the throttle body coupler. Once aligned perfectly, tighten down all hose clamps using your 8mm socket.
  5. Reconnect Lines and Electronics: Push the factory PCV breather line onto the new intake tube fitting until you hear a positive click. Reconnect the MAF sensor harness and push the red locking tab back into place.
  6. ECU Learn and Startup: Reconnect your negative battery terminal in the trunk with the 10mm wrench. Start the vehicle, but do not touch the gas pedal for at least 20 seconds. The LS3/L99 ECU needs this unbroken idle time to adapt to the massive increase in airflow and properly scale the MAF sensor.
