  • T20 Torx Driver (Specifically for removing the factory MAF sensor screws)
  • Panel Popper Tool (To safely remove the factory plastic push-clips)
  • Clean Microfiber Towel (To set the MAF sensor on safely)
Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The 5th Gen LLT V6 engine is notorious for brittle plastic PCV fittings. When removing the factory PCV breather tube from the main intake arm, do not just yank it. You must fully depress the grey locking tab before pulling. If you force it, the line will snap, and you will be making a frustrating trip to the dealership. Furthermore, the MAF sensor on the 2010-2011 Chevrolet Camaro 3.6L is highly sensitive. Dropping it or touching the exposed wire element will instantly trigger a Check Engine Light.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm socket. This prevents accidental shorts and forces the ECU to reset its fuel trims for your new intake.
  2. Unplug the MAF Sensor: Locate the Mass Air Flow sensor on the factory intake tube. Slide the red locking tab backward, press the release clip, and gently pull the harness off. Tuck the wire out of the way.
  3. Disconnect the PCV Breather Hose: Locate the hard plastic PCV line attached to the side of the intake tube. Depress the grey locking tab and carefully slide it off the factory fitting. Be gentle to avoid snapping the old plastic.
  4. Loosen the Throttle Body Clamp: Take your 8mm nut driver and loosen the hose clamp securing the factory corrugated tube to the throttle body.
  5. Extract the Factory Airbox: Use your 10mm socket to remove the single fender-well mounting bolt holding the airbox in place. Grab the entire factory airbox assembly and pull firmly upward to pop it out of the lower rubber mounting grommets. Remove it from the engine bay.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Chevy Camaro (2010-2011) 3.6L Engine

  1. Transfer the MAF Sensor: Use your T20 Torx driver to remove the two factory screws holding the MAF sensor. Carefully slide the sensor out and transfer it into the new aftermarket intake tube. Do not touch the sensor element. Secure it using the supplied aftermarket hardware.
  2. Mount the Heat Shield: Drop the new aftermarket heat shield into the empty space. Align it with the factory lower grommets and bolt it down using the provided hardware and your 10mm socket at the factory fender mounting point.
  3. Install the New Intake Tube: Slide the provided silicone coupler over the throttle body and slip the new hose clamps loosely over the ends. Insert the intake tube into the heat shield and slide the other end into the throttle body coupler. Once aligned properly, tighten down all clamps securely with your 8mm socket.
  4. Reconnect Vital Plumbing: Push the factory PCV breather hose onto the new tube’s aluminum fitting until you hear the locking tab click. Plug the MAF sensor harness back in and push the red locking tab forward to secure it. Finally, reconnect the negative battery terminal using your 10mm socket.
  5. Execute First Startup Protocol: Start the engine. Do not touch the gas pedal for at least 20 seconds. The ECU on the 2010-2011 Chevrolet Camaro 3.6L requires this uninterrupted idle time to read the new airflow dynamics, calibrate the MAF sensor, and adjust the fuel trims without throwing a code.
