The Cruze community consensus is unanimous: the factory corrugated PCV breather hose on the LUJ/LUV 1.4L turbo inlet is incredibly brittle from years of heat cycling. If you muscle it, it will snap, and your car will be stuck in the driveway. Gently push the locking tab in and wiggle it free. Furthermore, when removing the factory airbox, the bottom rubber mounting grommets love to pop out and disappear into the engine bay abyss. Keep an eye on them so you can transfer them to your aftermarket heat shield.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start your 2011-2015 Chevrolet Cruze 1.4L installation by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench. This prevents check engine lights and resets the ECU fuel trims for the new airflow volume.
  2. Unplug the MAF Sensor: Locate the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor on the factory airbox tube.   5. Final Check and Startup Protocol: Double-check all 8mm clamps and sensor connections. Reconnect the negative battery terminal with your 10mm wrench. Start the vehicle.
