Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
On the GM K2XX platform (your 6.2L L86 engine), the PCV breather tube clips are notoriously brittle. There is a grey locking tab on the connector that attaches to the valve cover. Do NOT just yank this hose. You must depress the grey tab fully to release the lock. If you break this, you will have a vacuum leak and need a replacement hose immediately. Also, handle the MAF sensor like a newborn baby—the oils from your fingers can ruin the exposed wire.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Intake Resonator

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Start by isolating the electrical system of your 2015-2019 Cadillac Escalade 6.2L. Use a 10mm socket to disconnect the negative terminal. This resets the ECU fuel trims.
  2. Disconnect the MAF Sensor: Locate the Mass Air Flow sensor on the intake tube near the airbox. Pull back the red safety tab, squeeze the connector, and pull gently. Use a panel popper to detach the wiring harness clip from the airbox housing.
  3. Remove PCV Breather Hoses: Locate the breather hoses on both the driver and passenger side valve covers connecting to the intake resonator. Press the grey release tabs and gently wiggle them off.
  4. Loosen the Clamps: Use an 8mm socket or flathead screwdriver to loosen the hose clamp at the throttle body and the hose clamp at the factory airbox.
  5. Remove the Resonator Assembly: Lift the large intake tube (the "resonator") out of the engine bay. It is held in by the clamps you just loosened.
  6. Remove the Lower Airbox: The factory airbox is usually held in by grommets. Rock it back and forth gently to unseat it from the fender well. If there is a mounting plate, use your 10mm socket to remove the bolts.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Cadillac Escalade (2015-2019) 6.2L

  1. Transfer the MAF Sensor: This is the most critical step. Using a T15 Torx bit, remove the two screws holding the MAF sensor in the stock pipe. Carefully pull the sensor out and insert it into the new Blue Intake pipe. Secure it with the provided hardware. Do not over-tighten these small screws; the aluminum pipe threads can strip.
  2. Install the Heat Shield: Assemble the new heat shield using the provided weather stripping. Drop it into the truck, aligning it with the factory mounting points on the fender. Secure it using the stock hardware or provided bolts with your 10mm socket.
  3. Mount the Coupler: Install the silicone coupler onto the throttle body. Tighten the throttle body side clamp with an 8mm socket, but leave the intake tube side loose for adjustment.
  4. Install the Intake Tube: Slide the new intake tube into the heat shield filter adapter first, then into the throttle body coupler. Align the tube so it does not rub against any coolant lines or the fan shroud.
  5. Connect Hoses and Sensors: Reconnect the PCV breather hoses to the fittings on the new tube. Plug the MAF sensor harness back into the sensor until it clicks. Lock the red tab.
  6. Final Lockdown: Tighten all hose clamps using your 8mm socket. Install the air filter onto the adapter inside the heat shield and tighten the clamp.
  7. ECU Relearn: Reconnect the negative battery terminal. Start the engine. Do not touch the gas pedal. Let the 6.2L V8 idle for 3-5 minutes so the ECU can relearn the new airflow parameters from the cold air intake without throwing a Check Engine Light.
