Unleash the LS2: Cold Air Intake for 2006-2007 Cadillac CTS-V 6.0L
Who It’s For: Designed specifically for Cadillac CTS-V owners running the iconic LS2 V8 engine. If you’re pushing your V-Series hard, whether it’s on the street or the occasional track day, and you feel like there’s more power left on the table, this upgrade is for you.
The Problem: The factory airbox on the LS2 V8 in the ‘06-’07 CTS-V was a compromise. GM had to balance performance with noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) requirements. What you end up with is a convoluted intake path and a restrictive filter that chokes the LS2, especially as the RPMs climb. We’ve all felt that slight hesitation, that feeling like the engine just isn’t breathing freely when you really lean into it. The stock setup just can’t deliver the consistent, cool air charge that the LS2 craves for peak output.
The Solution: We engineered this cold air intake system to correct those factory design flaws, allowing your LS2 V8 to truly stretch its legs. By replacing the entire restrictive OEM intake tract with a smooth, high-flow T-304 aluminum pipe and a large, exposed high-efficiency filter, we’ve eliminated the bottlenecks. This system draws a consistent, cooler, and denser charge of oxygen-rich air directly into your LS2, translating into immediate throttle response, noticeable horsepower and torque gains, and an aggressive, intoxicating engine note.
Why This is the Ultimate Upgrade
- Enhanced Power Delivery: Feel the immediate difference. By providing the LS2 V8 with a constant supply of cooler, denser air, this intake optimizes combustion, translating to measurable gains in both horsepower and torque across the entire RPM range. You’ll experience crisper throttle response and stronger pulls through every gear.
- Premium Durability & Filtration: Crafted from high-grade T-304 aluminum for maximum heat dissipation and long-term durability. The included high-flow, reusable performance air filter offers superior filtration, protecting your LS2 from harmful contaminants while ensuring maximum airflow. This isn’t just about performance; it’s about reliable, sustained performance.
- Direct Bolt-On Installation: This kit is designed for a straightforward, direct-fit installation. It replaces the factory air box and tubing without requiring any permanent modifications. All necessary couplers, clamps, and hardware are included, making this an accessible upgrade for any enthusiast with basic mechanical skills. Just make sure the engine is cool before you start!

Installation & Tools
Installation & Tools
The Wrench Time: 2006-2007 Cadillac CTS 6.0L
- Estimated Time: 45-60 Minutes
- Difficulty: 3/10 - A straightforward driveway bolt-on, but requires strict patience with brittle V1 chassis plastics and the sensitive LS2 MAF sensor.
Tools You Will Need
- 10mm wrench (for the battery terminal)
- 10mm socket with 6-inch extension (for factory airbox mounting bolts and heat shield)
- 8mm deep socket or nut driver (for worm-gear hose clamps)
- T20 Torx driver (for the MAF sensor screws)
- Plastic panel popper (for removing radiator shroud push-pins)
The V1 CTS-V community knows the LS2 engine bay completely bakes its plastics over time. The grey locking tab on the factory 5-wire MAF harness will likely be incredibly brittle. Use a small pick to gently slide it back—do not force it or you will snap it. Furthermore, when you transfer the MAF sensor, look for the embossed arrow on the housing. It MUST point toward the throttle body. Installing it backward will cause immediate stalling, terrible idle surges, and throw a P0102 code.
Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part from your 2006-2007 Cadillac CTS 6.0L
- Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench to prevent check engine lights and protect the ECU while unplugging sensors.
- Remove the Radiator Shroud: Use your plastic panel popper to carefully pry up the center of the push-pins securing the upper radiator cover. Lift the cover off and set it aside.
- Unplug the MAF Sensor: Locate the Mass Air Flow sensor on the factory intake tube. Carefully slide the grey locking tab back, press the release clip, and gently pull to disconnect the harness.
- Loosen the Hose Clamps: Grab your 8mm deep socket and loosen the factory worm-gear clamps at the throttle body and the airbox lid.
- Extract the Factory Airbox: Remove the 10mm mounting bolts securing the lower airbox to the inner fender. Firmly pull the entire lower assembly upward to pop it out of the factory rubber chassis grommets.
- Salvage the MAF Sensor: Using your T20 Torx driver, carefully remove the two screws holding the factory MAF sensor into the OEM plastic tube. Pull it straight out without twisting to protect the fragile hot-wire element inside. Set it somewhere safe.
Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Cadillac CTS-V (2006-2007) 6.0L Engine
- Assemble the Heat Shield: Drop the new aftermarket heat shield into the engine bay to fight off the notorious LS2 heat soak. Secure it to the inner fender using your 10mm socket and the supplied kit hardware.
- Transfer the MAF Sensor: Carefully seat your factory MAF sensor into the new aftermarket intake tube. Secure it using the supplied bolts. Verify the airflow arrow points directly toward the throttle body before tightening.
- Route the New Tube: Slide the provided silicone couplers onto the throttle body and the new intake tube. Slip the assembly into place and lightly snug the clamps with your 8mm socket. Do not overtighten and crush the aluminum tube.
- Mount the Cone Filter: Attach the high-flow air filter to the end of the intake tube inside the heat shield boundary. Tighten the final clamp firmly with your 8mm socket.
- Reconnect the Harness: Plug the factory 5-wire MAF harness back into the sensor and gently slide the grey locking tab forward to secure it. Double-check all of your hose clamps and push-pins.
- ECU Calibration Protocol: Reconnect the negative battery terminal with your 10mm wrench. Turn the ignition on and start the engine. Do not touch the gas pedal for 20 seconds. Let the ECU adapt and learn the new high-flow air volume at idle before taking it out for a pull.
