Unleash the Supercharged Roar of Your Cadillac CTS-V LSA V8 with Our Cold Air Intake

Who It’s For: Designed specifically for 2009-2015 Cadillac CTS & CTS-V owners running the potent LSA Supercharged V8 engine, looking to dramatically improve airflow and responsiveness.

The Problem: The factory intake system on the LSA Supercharged V8, while capable, was engineered with a significant compromise: noise reduction. This often results in a restrictive air path, creating bottlenecks and limiting the true potential of your LSA V8, especially under hard acceleration. Furthermore, the stock design struggles to adequately shield the intake air from the sweltering engine bay heat, leading to power-robbing heat soak and inconsistent performance.

The Solution: We engineered this cold air intake system to correct the factory design flaws of the LSA Supercharged V8, delivering reliable, consistent performance. By replacing the restrictive OEM components with a high-flow induction path and integrating dedicated heat shield plates, this system ensures your LSA breathes nothing but cool, dense, oxygen-rich air. The result? Sharper throttle response, increased horsepower and torque across the RPM range, and the aggressive supercharger whine you’ve always wanted to hear.

Why This is the Ultimate Upgrade

  • Enhanced Power & Torque: By maximizing cool air velocity and volume, this intake significantly boosts the LSA Supercharged V8’s pulling power and acceleration, translating directly to more usable power on the street or track.
  • Superior Thermal Management: Integrated heat shield plates strategically isolate the air filter from engine bay heat, ensuring a consistently cooler and denser air charge, which is critical for maintaining peak power output in the LSA engine.
  • Instant Throttle Response: Eliminates the hesitation and lag often associated with the factory baffled intake, providing a more immediate and satisfying throttle feedback the moment you touch the pedal.
  • Aggressive Induction Sound: Fully unlocks the deep, authoritative roar and supercharger whine of your 6.2L LSA, delivering a more exhilarating and sporty auditory experience that matches the engine’s performance.
  • Precision-Engineered Filtration: Includes a high-flow, performance air filter designed to efficiently capture debris while maintaining optimal airflow and protecting your valuable LSA engine.

Installation & Tools

The Wrench Time

  • Estimated Time: 45-60 Minutes
  • Difficulty: 3/10 - Basic bolt-on, but requires delicate handling of sensitive engine management sensors and notoriously brittle factory plastics.

Tools You Will Need

  • 10mm wrench or socket (For battery terminal)
  • 8mm socket or nut driver (For hose clamps)
  • T20 Torx driver (For MAF sensor removal)
  • Panel popper tool (For factory retaining clips)
  • 4mm Allen wrench (Often required for aftermarket MAF hardware)
Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The 6.2L LSA supercharged engine produces intense underhood heat (heat soak), which aggressively bakes the factory plastics. The hard plastic PCV breather line connected to the OEM intake tube is notorious on the V-Series forums for snapping during removal. Do not pry or twist it! Fully depress the locking tab and pull straight back. Breaking this line guarantees a massive vacuum leak and a trip to the dealer. Additionally, the MAF sensor element is highly sensitive—never touch the exposed wire.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal on your 2009-2015 Cadillac CTS 6.2L using a 10mm wrench to prevent check engine lights.
  2. Unplug the MAF Sensor: Slide the red locking tab back and disconnect the wiring harness from the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. Using your T20 Torx driver, carefully extract the factory sensor from the housing. Place it in a safe, clean location.
  3. Release the PCV Breather: Locate the hard plastic PCV line connecting the valve cover to the intake tube. Depress the locking clip and gently pull the line straight out to disconnect it.
  4. Loosen the Throttle Body Clamp: Grab your 8mm socket and loosen the factory worm clamp securing the intake tube to the throttle body.
  5. Extract the Factory Airbox: Use your panel popper to remove the plastic push-pins securing the upper radiator shroud and airbox inlet. Grab the factory airbox firmly and pull upward to dislodge it from the lower rubber mounting grommets. Remove the entire assembly from the vehicle.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake

  1. Mount the Heat Shield: Drop the new aftermarket airbox or heat shield into the engine bay. Firmly press down to seat the mounting pegs into the factory rubber grommets.
  2. Transfer the MAF Sensor: Carefully insert your factory MAF sensor into the new intake tube. Secure it using the supplied hardware (usually a 4mm Allen or T20 Torx). Ensure the airflow direction arrow on the sensor points directly toward the blower (throttle body).
  3. Install the New Intake Tube: Slide the provided silicone couplers over the throttle body and the new tube. Use your 8mm socket to tighten all hose clamps until they are snug. Do not overtighten and crush the tube.
  4. Connect the Breather Line: Take the factory PCV breather line and push it onto the new intake fitting until you hear a definitive click, ensuring a leak-free seal.
  5. Attach Filter & Initialize: Slide the high-flow air filter onto the intake tube and tighten the clamp with your 8mm socket. Finally, reconnect the negative battery terminal with your 10mm wrench. On the first startup, do not touch the gas pedal for 20 seconds to allow the ECU to properly adapt to the new airflow metrics.
