Unleash the GM High Feature V6 (LY7/LLT) Power in Your Lambda SUV with a Performance Cold Air Intake

Who It’s For: Designed specifically for Buick Enclave, Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Saturn Outlook owners running the robust GM High Feature V6 (LY7/LLT) engine. If you’re looking to wake up your SUV’s performance, improve throttle response, and hear that V6 sing, this is your next essential upgrade.

The Problem: Let’s be honest, the factory air intake system on these Lambda platform SUVs with the GM High Feature V6 (LY7/LLT) engine is a compromise. It’s engineered for quiet operation and cost-effectiveness, not peak performance. This means restrictive tubing, a convoluted airbox, and often, pulling in warmer under-hood air. When you’re trying to merge onto the highway, pass traffic, or haul a full load, that stock setup creates a bottleneck. You feel that lag, that hesitation, and it just doesn’t let the powerful GM High Feature V6 breathe like it’s capable of.

The Solution: We engineered this cold air intake system to correct the factory design flaws of the GM High Feature V6 (LY7/LLT), delivering reliable, immediate performance gains. By replacing the restrictive factory components with a high-velocity induction pipe and a performance-oriented, high-flow air filter, this kit allows your engine to draw in a larger volume of cooler, denser, oxygen-rich air. The result? A noticeable boost in horsepower and torque, sharper throttle response, and a more engaging driving experience from your SUV.

Why This is the Ultimate Upgrade

  • Enhanced Power & Response: Feel an immediate difference with increased horsepower and torque across the RPM range. The engine breathes easier, translating to quicker acceleration and more responsive throttle inputs, especially when you need it most.
  • Optimal Engine Health: Our high-flow performance air filter is designed to maximize airflow while still providing superior filtration, protecting your GM High Feature V6 from harmful debris. Cooler, denser air also contributes to a more efficient and cleaner burn, potentially aiding fuel efficiency.
  • Effortless Installation: This kit is a direct fit, designed to bolt right into your SUV’s existing intake points. All necessary couplers, clamps, and hardware are included, making for a straightforward installation that most enthusiasts can tackle in their garage.
  • Aggressive Sound Profile: Beyond the performance gains, you’ll experience a deeper, more aggressive engine note under acceleration – a subtle reminder of the power you’ve unlocked.

Installation & Tools

The Wrench Time

  • Estimated Time: 45-60 Minutes
  • Difficulty: 3/10 - A straightforward driveway job, but requires patience dealing with cramped clearances and heat-baked plastic clips common to the Lambda platform.

Tools You Will Need

  • 10mm deep socket, extension & ratchet (for battery and airbox bolts)
  • 10mm wrench (for the battery terminal)
  • 8mm nut driver or socket (for hose clamps)
  • T20 Torx bit (for factory MAF sensor removal)
  • Flathead screwdriver & panel popper (for stubborn harness clips)
Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The 3.6L LY7/LLT engines in these Lambda-chassis vehicles are notorious for PCV oil blow-by pooling inside the factory intake snorkel. When removing the factory tube, keep it tilted upward so you don’t dump old oil all over your serpentine belt. Also, the plastic PCV breather clip gets extremely brittle from heat cycling—squeeze it gently and wiggle it off. Don’t pry on it, or it will shatter.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench to prevent accidental shorts and hard-coded check engine lights on your 2008-2011 Buick Enclave 3.6L.
  2. Unplug the MAF Sensor: Locate the Mass Airflow Sensor on the factory intake housing. Slide the red locking tab back, press the release clip, and pull the plug straight out. Use a panel popper to gently pry the wiring harness anchor out of the factory plastic so the wire is free.
  3. Disconnect the PCV Breather: Squeeze the textured plastic retaining ring on the PCV breather line and pull it straight off the factory intake tube. Remember, don’t force it; wiggle it side to side while pulling.
  4. Loosen the Hose Clamps: Using your 8mm nut driver or socket, loosen the factory worm-gear clamps securing the intake tube to both the throttle body and the factory airbox lid.
  5. Remove the Factory Airbox: Unbolt the lower airbox housing using your 10mm socket and extension. Grab the entire assembly and pull it firmly upward to pop it out of the rubber lower mounting grommets. Lift the whole OEM intake system out of the engine bay.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Buick Enclave CX/CXL (2008-2011) 3.6L V6 Engine

  1. Prep the Heat Shield: Assemble your new aftermarket heat shield (and weather stripping, if applicable) on your workbench. Drop it into the factory mounting locations in the engine bay. Secure it using your 10mm socket and the provided mounting hardware.
  2. Transfer the MAF Sensor: Carefully unscrew the MAF sensor from the OEM housing using a T20 Torx bit. Pull it straight out. Never touch the exposed sensor wire element with your fingers. Drop it into the new aftermarket intake tube and secure it with the provided hardware. Tighten it snugly, but don’t over-torque it and crack the new housing.
  3. Install the Couplers and Tube: Slide the provided silicone couplers onto the throttle body and the new intake tube. Pre-install the hose clamps loosely. Slide the main tube into position, ensuring it isn’t rubbing against any AC lines or chassis metal, and clamp it down tight using your 8mm nut driver.
  4. Reconnect Vital Lines: Push the factory PCV breather line onto the new intake’s machined fitting until you hear a definitive "click," ensuring a solid vacuum seal. Plug the MAF sensor harness back into the sensor and push the red lock back into the engaged position.
  5. ECU Relearn Process: Reconnect the negative battery terminal with your 10mm wrench. Start the vehicle, but do not touch the gas pedal for at least 20 seconds. Let the vehicle idle so the ECU can adjust its fuel trims to the increased airflow dynamics of your 3.6L V6.
