Performance Cold Air Intake Induction Kit for 2004–2008 Acura TSX 2.4L – Optimized Power Delivery and High-Flow Induction

Ensure your Acura TSX's maximized airflow and engine performance boost with this precision-engineered cold air intake system. Engineered specifically for the 2.4L i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine, this kit replaces the restrictive factory air box that often limits the potential of your vehicle during high-RPM driving or spirited commutes. Whether you are maintaining factory settings or looking to maximize your vehicle's potential, this upgrade provides the high-velocity induction route needed for peak efficiency and a more capable driving experience.

The factory intake components are designed for silence over speed, often creating bottlenecks that restrict the engine's ability to breathe. By drawing in a larger volume of cooler, oxygen-rich air, this system eliminates those vulnerabilities. This ensures that response remains sharp across the entire RPM range, resulting in more immediate acceleration and a noticeable boost in horsepower and torque.

Key Features & Performance Benefits

  • Power Gain: Increases horsepower and torque for better high-end performance.
  • Fuel Efficiency: Optimizes air-to-fuel ratios for a cleaner burn.
  • Instant Response: Removes intake lag for more direct acceleration.
  • Engine Tone: Provides a deeper and more aggressive induction sound.
  • Consistent Flow: Maintains steady air velocity for reliable performance.
  • High Filtration: Blocks harmful debris while allowing maximum airflow.

What's Included

Your kit features the high-velocity induction piping, a high-flow performance air filter, and all required couplers, clamps, and hardware for a complete and secure installation.

Installation Tip

Important: Disconnect the NEGATIVE GROUND CABLE from the battery before starting the installation and keep it off for at least one minute after you finish. This reset allows the engine's computer to learn the new airflow parameters. Ensure the engine is completely cool before beginning work.

Installation & Tools

The Wrench Time

  • Estimated Time: 60-90 Minutes (Includes bumper cover removal)
  • Difficulty: 4/10 - Dropping the bumper sounds scary on the CL9 chassis, but it’s just a series of basic clips and bolts. The actual aftermarket intake routing is very straightforward.

Tools You Will Need

  • 10mm socket and ratchet (with a 6-inch extension)
  • 10mm wrench (for the battery terminal)
  • 8mm socket or nut driver (for hose clamps)
  • Panel popper tool (specifically for brittle Honda/Acura plastic clips)
  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Needle-nose pliers (for factory spring clamps)
Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The 2004-2008 Acura TSX (CL9) hides a massive, labyrinth-like factory intake resonator deep inside the driver-side fender well. Don’t waste an hour scraping your knuckles trying to wrestle it out from the top engine bay or by painfully peeling back the stiff fender liner. The K-Series forum consensus is clear: just remove the front bumper cover. It takes 10 extra minutes, saves you from breaking brittle factory tabs, and gives you wide-open access to route your new piping without scratching it. Always keep spare Honda push-clips on hand!

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench to prevent accidental shorts and check engine lights on your 2004-2008 Acura TSX 2.4L.
  2. Remove the Upper Radiator Cover & Drop the Bumper: Use your panel popper to carefully pry up the plastic clips holding the top radiator shroud. Next, use a 10mm socket and Phillips screwdriver to remove the bolts and screws located in the wheel wells and under the bottom edge of the bumper. Carefully pull the bumper cover off the clips and set it safely on a blanket.
  3. Unplug the Sensors & Lines: Locate the factory Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor plugged into the rubber intake tube. Gently squeeze the locking tab and unplug the harness. Use your needle-nose pliers to pinch and slide back the metal spring clamp on the PCV breather hose, then pull the hose free from the intake.
  4. Extract the Upper Airbox: Loosen the main hose clamp at the throttle body using an 8mm socket or Phillips screwdriver. Unbolt the upper airbox housing using your 10mm socket and pull the top half of the intake assembly completely out of the engine bay.
  5. Defeat the Final Boss (The Resonator): With the front bumper off, you now have direct access to the massive plastic factory resonator box mounted in the lower driver-side corner. Remove the three mounting bolts using a 10mm socket and a 6-inch extension. Wiggle the entire lower unit free and discard it.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Acura TSX (2004-2008) 2.4L Engine

  1. Install the Silicone Coupler: Slide the provided silicone step-coupler over the K24A2 throttle body. Slide a T-bolt clamp over the throttle body side and tighten it down firmly with your 8mm socket. Keep the clamp for the intake pipe side loose for now.
  2. Transfer the Factory Sensor (Delicate Protocol): The ECU relies heavily on accurate temperature readings. Carefully twist and pull the factory IAT sensor out of the OEM rubber boot. Wipe the sensor clean, apply a tiny drop of clean engine oil to the sensor’s O-ring so it doesn’t tear, and press it gently into the pre-drilled rubber grommet on your new aluminum intake pipe.
  3. Route the New Intake Pipe: Carefully feed the lower section of the cold air intake down through the factory chassis hole into the now-empty fender well area. Angle it so it isn’t rubbing against any sharp metal edges. Connect the upper section into the throttle body silicone coupler. Leave the connecting clamps loosely hand-tight so you can adjust the angles.
  4. Mount the Filter & Secure Connections: Down in the bumper/fender well area, slide the high-flow cone filter onto the end of the intake pipe and clamp it down using your 8mm socket. Up top, reconnect the PCV breather hose to the welded nipple on the pipe, and plug the IAT sensor harness back in until you hear it click. Once everything is aligned perfectly without hitting the chassis, go back and firmly tighten all pipe coupler clamps with your 8mm socket.
  5. Reinstall Bumper & The ECU Relearn Procedure: Bolt your front bumper cover and radiator shroud back together using the factory clips and bolts. Finally, reconnect the negative battery terminal. Turn the ignition key to the ON position for 5 seconds, then start the engine. Do not touch the gas pedal for at least 20 seconds. Let the vehicle idle so the ECU can properly calibrate to the massive increase in cold airflow.
