Performance Cold Air Intake System for 2007–2014 Acura TL 3.5L & 3.7L V6 – Streamlined Induction & Reliable Power Gains

Ensure your Acura TL's maximized airflow and engine performance boost with this precision-engineered cold air intake system. Engineered specifically for the 3.5L and 3.7L V6 engines, this kit replaces the restrictive factory air box that often limits the potential of your luxury sedan during spirited acceleration or highway merging. By optimizing the induction path, this system provides the cooler, denser air charge needed for improved combustion efficiency and a more engaging driving experience.

The factory intake components are designed for silence over speed, often creating bottlenecks that restrict the engine's ability to breathe under load. Cooler air carries more oxygen, which translates into a more intense explosion in the combustion chamber to create more horsepower and torque. This system utilizes high-flow induction tubing that effectively reduces air turbulence, allowing your V6 to act as a more efficient air pump and delivering a noticeable performance increase throughout the entire RPM range.

Key Features & Performance Benefits

  • Power Gain: Increases horsepower and torque for improved acceleration and high-end pull.
  • Thermal Management: Designed to draw in cooler air from outside the engine bay to maintain a denser air charge.
  • Instant Response: Removes intake lag to provide a more direct connection between the pedal and the pavement.
  • Engine Tone: Enhances the induction sound under heavy acceleration, giving your TL a more aggressive, mechanical note.
  • Consistent Flow: Maintains steady air velocity for reliable performance in both daily commuting and spirited driving.
  • High Filtration: Blocks harmful debris while allowing maximum airflow for the demands of the high-revving VTEC power plant.

Vehicle Fitment

  • Acura TL 2007–2014 models with 3.5L V6 Engine
  • Acura TL 2010 models with 3.7L V6 Engine

What's Included

Your kit features the high-velocity induction piping, a reusable high-flow performance air filter, and all required couplers, clamps, and hardware for a complete and secure installation.

Installation Tip

Disconnect the NEGATIVE GROUND CABLE from the battery before starting the installation and keep it off for at least one minute after you finish. This reset allows the engine's computer to learn the new airflow parameters and adjust accordingly. Ensure the engine is completely cool before beginning work.

Installation & Tools

The Wrench Time for your 2007-2014 Acura TL 3.5L 3.7L

  • Estimated Time: 60-90 Minutes
  • Difficulty: 4/10 - Getting the massive factory resonator box out of the driver’s side fender requires patience and peeling back the fender liner.

Tools You Will Need

  • 10mm and 12mm deep sockets with a 6-inch extension
  • 8mm nut driver (for worm-gear clamps)
  • Panel popper tool (to remove plastic fender clips without shattering them)
  • Phillips #2 screwdriver (for the delicate sensor screws)
  • Pliers (for the factory spring clamps on the PCV breather line)
Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
If you spend any time on Acurazine, you know the biggest headache on the J35 and J37 platforms is the massive factory intake resonator hidden inside the bumper. Do not try to forcefully yank it out from the engine bay. Turn the steering wheel, use your panel popper to remove the clips at the front of the driver’s side wheel well, peel back the liner, and easily access the hidden 10mm bolts holding the resonator box. Also, the factory rubber PCV breather hose on these older TLs is usually baked stiff—twist it gently with pliers to break the seal before pulling to prevent snapping the plastic nipple off the valve cover!

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench to prevent check engine lights and allow the ECU to reset for the new airflow.
  2. Unplug the Air Sensor: Carefully press the locking tab and disconnect the wiring harness from the factory MAF/IAT sensor located on the intake tube. Never pull by the wires.
  3. Loosen the Clamps: Use your 8mm nut driver to loosen the band clamp securing the factory rubber intake hose to the throttle body. Next, use pliers to squeeze and slide back the spring clamp on the PCV breather hose, pulling it off the intake tube.
  4. Remove the Upper Airbox: Unbolt the 10mm bolts securing the upper and lower halves of the factory airbox. Remove the upper housing, corrugated intake tube, and paper filter from the engine bay.
  5. Extract the Lower Resonator: Turn the steering wheel all the way to the right. Use your panel popper to carefully pry out the plastic clips holding the driver’s side fender liner. Pull the liner back to expose the factory resonator box. Remove the mounting 10mm bolts with a socket and extension, then drop the resonator unit completely out of the fender well.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Acura TL (2007-2014) 3.5L 3.7L V6 Engines

  1. Transfer the Sensor: Using a Phillips #2 screwdriver, carefully remove the delicate MAF/IAT sensor from the factory housing. Gently insert it into the machined billet adapter on your new aftermarket intake tube. Tighten the supplied screws securely, but do not over-torque them into the aluminum to avoid stripping the threads.
  2. Mount the Coupler: Slide the provided silicone step-coupler over the throttle body. Slip two worm-gear clamps loosely over the coupler.
  3. Route the Intake Tube: Feed the new cold air intake tube down into the fender well void where the old resonator used to sit. Slide the top end into the silicone coupler at the throttle body. Once positioned perfectly without rubbing against metal edges, tighten both clamps down snug with your 8mm nut driver.
  4. Attach the Filter and Hoses: Install the new high-flow cone filter onto the end of the intake tube down in the fender well, locking it tight with your 8mm nut driver. Connect the supplied PCV breather hose from the engine valve cover to the welded fitting on the intake tube. Reconnect the MAF/IAT sensor wiring harness until you hear a definitive click.
  5. The ECU Relearn Procedure: Reconnect the negative battery terminal with your 10mm wrench. Start the 2007-2014 Acura TL 3.5L 3.7L engine and let it idle. Do not touch the gas pedal for at least 20 seconds. This gives the J-series ECU time to properly calibrate the air-fuel mapping for the increased airflow.
