Large 115 mm inlets and 304 stainless steel construction replace the factory downpipes and catalytic converters to improve exhaust flow, sharpen turbo response and bring out a louder turbo and V8 sound. How Catless Downpipes Work on the 4.0L Twin-Turbo V8

The downpipes connect each turbocharger to the rest of the exhaust. Removing the restrictive factory catalytic converters and using larger diameter piping lets exhaust leave the turbos more freely, which helps the turbos spool faster and reduces turbo lag.
