The Stock Supra Weakness

The OEM A70 Supra exhaust system was engineered primarily for 1980s noise compliance rather than flow efficiency. The factory piping utilizes restrictive diameters—often necking down at the bends—and heavy internal baffling that creates significant fluid friction. In the turbocharged 7M-GTE models, this backpressure traps heat at the turbine outlet, increasing exhaust gas temperatures (EGTs) and slowing turbo spool. Furthermore, the original mild steel construction is highly susceptible to scaling and structural failure after decades of thermal cycling and environmental exposure, leading to leaks and lost performance.

The Engineering Solution

This system features a full 3.0-inch bore constructed from high-grade stainless steel, providing a direct, high-volume path for spent gases. By utilizing mandrel-bent tubing, the inner diameter remains constant throughout every radius, eliminating the turbulence found in press-bent factory units. The 4.0-inch tip is designed for a flush fit within the A70 rear valence. This setup includes a removable silencer baffle; keeping the silencer installed maintains a civil tone for daily driving, while removing it allows the 7M straight-six to resonate with its signature deep, mechanical note. The kit is a direct bolt-on solution that mates to the existing catalytic converter flange, including all necessary gaskets and hardware for a leak-free seal.
