• Nylon trim panel popper (for safety clips without scratching engine bay paint)
• CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner & clean microfiber rags

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

1. Disconnect the Battery: Pop the front boot (frunk), remove the cowl panel using a panel popper, and isolate the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench to wipe short-term fuel trim memory and protect the ECU.
2. Access the Lamborghini Gallardo Engine Bay: Prop the rear decklid securely. Locate the twin symmetric airbox assemblies seated on the left and right flanks of the 5.2L V10 intake manifold.
3. Disconnect the Dual MAF Harnesses: Depress the small locking tabs on both Mass Air Flow sensor connectors and slide them off. Tuck the wiring harnesses carefully aside so they are not pinched against the hot cylinder head covers.
4. Loosen Intake Couplers: Using a 7mm nut driver, loosen the worm clamps securing the factory silicone/rubber bellows to the dual throttle bodies and airboxes.
5. Unbolt the Factory Airbox Enclosures: Back out the mounting fasteners along the airbox perimeter frames using a T30 Torx driver. Carefully lift the airbox assemblies upward just enough to reach beneath them, disconnect the secondary breather and vacuum ports, and lift both factory units out of the engine bay.

Phase 2: Installing the Carbon Racing Air Intake Filter System

1. Transfer the OEM MAF Sensors: Using a T20 Torx driver, remove the factory MAF sensors from the OEM housings. Inspect the O-rings for flat spots or dry rot. Spray each sensor with dedicated MAF cleaner, allow them to air-dry, and seat them directly into the new carbon intake sensor ports. Tighten the hardware snug by hand—do not over-torque into the carbon sleeves.
2. Seat the Carbon Intake Housings: Lower the new carbon intake assemblies into the Lamborghini Gallardo chassis mounts. Reconnect the lower vacuum line fittings underneath before fully securing the main brackets using your 10mm socket.
3. Secure Filter Couplers & Throttle Bodies: Slip the high-temp silicone couplers over the dual throttle bodies and the carbon inlet pipes. Align the carbon ducting so it clears the decklid hinge swing path completely, then secure all clamps firmly with a 7mm nut driver. Do not use an impact gun on carbon-clamped interfaces.
4. Reconnect Harnesses & Battery: Plug both MAF sensor harness connectors in until you hear a definitive click. Reconnect the negative terminal to the battery in the front boot using your 10mm wrench and reinstall the cowl panel.
5. Critical ECU Idle Relearn: Turn the ignition to the "ON" position for 30 seconds without starting the engine to let the throttle bodies calibrate sweep limits. Fire up the engine, and DO NOT touch the gas pedal for at least 20 seconds. Allow the Lamborghini Gallardo ECU to adapt its cold-idle fuel-air strategy to the increased airflow without logging an adaptation fault.
