Feel the instant surge of power and crisp throttle response every time you hit the gas in your Silverado or Sierra. This high-performance cold air intake liberates your truck’s 4.3L V6, transforming your daily drive and hauling capabilities.

Performance Cold Air Intake for Chevy Silverado 1500/GMC Sierra 1500 (2014-2018) 4.3L V6 Engines Blue

The factory air intake system in your 2014-2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 or GMC Sierra 1500 4.3L V6 is designed for quiet operation and cost-efficiency, not maximum power or efficiency. Its restrictive air box, narrow ducting, and pleated paper filter choke your EcoTec3 V6, preventing it from breathing optimally and leading to sluggish throttle response and diminished engine output, especially under load.

This high-flow cold air intake system specifically addresses these limitations, engineered to maximize the potential of your 4.3L V6. By replacing the stock bottlenecks with a streamlined induction path, a high-volume filter, and a custom heat shield, your truck draws in a larger, cooler, and denser charge of air. The result is a more energetic combustion cycle, providing instant throttle feedback, crisper acceleration, enhanced towing performance, and a noticeable improvement in overall engine efficiency.

Why You Need This Upgrade

  • Unleash Hidden Horsepower: Replaces restrictive factory components with a high-flow pathway, allowing your 4.3L V6 engine to breathe easier and produce more power and torque.
  • Instant Throttle Response: Eliminates the "laggy" feeling of the stock intake, providing immediate power delivery and sharper acceleration for confident passing and merging.
  • Cooler, Denser Air: The included heavy-duty heat shield effectively blocks ambient engine heat, ensuring your V6 receives oxygen-rich, cooler air for optimal combustion and preventing power-robbing heat soak.
  • Aggressive Induction Sound: Enhances your truck’s acoustic character with a deep, muscular intake growl under acceleration, letting you hear the power you’re unleashing.
  • Built to Last: Constructed with premium, durable materials including high-grade piping and a washable/reusable synthetic air filter, designed to withstand the rigors of truck use and provide long-term reliability.

Installation & Tools

The Wrench Time

  • Estimated Time: 45-60 Minutes
  • Difficulty: 2/10 - Beginner friendly. Just bolts and clamps.

Tools You Will Need

  • 10mm Socket & Ratchet (Negative battery terminal, airbox mounting plate)
  • 8mm Socket or Flathead Screwdriver (Hose clamps)
  • T15 Torx Bit (CRITICAL: Required for GM MAF Sensor removal)
  • Panel Popper / Trim Tool (Removing wire harness clips from the stock box)
  • 2.5mm or 3mm Allen Key (Often required for aftermarket hardware)
Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
On these 4.3L EcoTec3 engines, the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor screws are notoriously easy to strip when transferring them to a new metal intake pipe. Use your T15 Torx carefully and do not over-torque. Furthermore, handle the MAF sensor like a raw egg—the oils from your fingers can foul the element and cause a rough idle or Check Engine Light immediately after install.

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Start by isolating the electrical system on your 2014-2018 Silverado. Use a 10mm socket to disconnect the negative terminal. This resets the ECU so it can relearn the new airflow parameters later.
  2. Disconnect the Sensor Harness: Locate the MAF sensor near the airbox. Pull back the red locking tab, squeeze the release, and gently pull the plug. Use a panel popper to pry the wire harness clip off the plastic airbox housing.
  3. Remove Breather Hoses: The 4.3L V6 has PCV crankcase breather lines connecting to the intake resonator. Press the grey release buttons on the connectors and pull them off the intake tube. Be gentle—these GM plastics become brittle with heat cycles.
  4. Loosen the Clamps: Use an 8mm socket or flathead screwdriver to loosen the hose clamp at the throttle body and the clamp connecting the tube to the airbox.
  5. Remove the Assembly: The factory airbox is held in by rubber grommets. Firmly lift the airbox straight up to unseat it from the inner fender tray. Remove the entire intake assembly from the engine bay.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Chevy Silverado 1500 (2014-2018) 4.3L V6

  1. Transfer the MAF Sensor: Using your T15 Torx bit, unscrew the sensor from the stock pipe. Install it into the new Blue intake tube immediately. Ensure the airflow arrow on the sensor points toward the throttle body (away from the filter). Secure with the provided hardware using a small Allen key.
  2. Install the Heat Shield: Bolt the new heat shield into the truck using the factory mounting points on the fender tray. Use a 10mm socket to secure it. Push the provided rubber trim seal onto the top edge of the shield to protect the hood liner.
  3. Mount the Couplers: Slide the silicone coupler onto the throttle body and secure loosely with a hose clamp using an 8mm socket. Do not tighten fully yet; you need wiggle room for adjustment.
  4. Install the Intake Tube: Feed the new intake tube through the heat shield and into the throttle body coupler. Connect the provided breather hose to the PCV port on the engine.
  5. Lock It Down: Install the air filter onto the end of the tube inside the heat shield. Once the tube is aligned perfectly (not rubbing against the fan shroud or coolant lines), tighten all hose clamps with your 8mm socket. Reconnect the MAF sensor harness and push the red locking tab back in.
  6. The Idle Relearn: Reconnect the negative battery terminal. Start the truck and let it idle for 3-5 minutes without touching the gas pedal. This allows the ECU to calibrate for the increased airflow of the 4.3L intake.
