Ford F-150 (5.0L V8) High-Velocity Air Induction & Increased Capacity
Transform your Ford F-150's performance with an induction system specifically engineered to overcome the limitations of the factory V8 setup. By replacing the restrictive, baffled factory air box with a streamlined, high-flow pathway and dedicated heat shield, your engine gains the ability to inhale significantly more oxygen-rich air. The result? A more energetic and efficient combustion cycle that makes your truck feel lighter and more capable during highway merging, steep climbs, and heavy towing.
This premium upgrade maximizes airflow velocity and engine efficiency using lightweight T-304 aluminum piping with a chrome polished finish and an integrated heat shield to block engine bay heat. You'll experience measurable improvements in horsepower and torque, sharper throttle response for instantaneous feedback, and a deep, purposeful engine tone that announces your presence.
Performance Benefits
- Optimized Power Gains: Frees the Coyote V8 from airflow restrictions, unlocking higher horsepower and torque across the entire RPM range
- Instant Throttle Feedback: Eliminates intake lag with a direct, smooth air path that reacts the moment you press the pedal
- Thermal Protection: Specialized heat shield isolates the intake from engine bay heat, ensuring cooler, denser air for maximum performance
- Premium Construction: T-304 aluminum piping delivers lightweight strength with a chrome polished finish for showroom appearance and corrosion resistance
- Sustainable Filtration: High-flow air filter designed to be cleaned and reused, providing long-term value and superior engine protection

- Estimated Time: 45-60 Minutes
- Difficulty: 2/10 - Basic hand tools and straightforward bolt-on, perfect for the driveway mechanic.

- T20 Torx Driver
- Flathead Screwdriver
- Needle-nose Pliers
The Gen 1 Coyote 5.0L PCV breather hose has a plastic quick-disconnect fitting that becomes extremely brittle from engine heat cycles. Do not pry the grey or green locking tab with a screwdriver. Gently press the tab by hand and wiggle the hose off. Breaking this factory nipple causes unmetered air to enter the intake, resulting in a vacuum leak, a high idle, and an instant Check Engine Light (CEL). Additionally, when handling the MAF sensor, hold it strictly by the plastic housing to avoid contaminating the delicate exposed wire element.
Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part on your 2011-2014 Ford F-150 5.0L
- Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench to prevent check engine lights.
- Unplug the MAF Sensor: Locate the Mass Air Flow sensor on the factory intake tube. Slide the red locking tab back, press down on the release clip, and carefully pull the harness free.
- Disconnect the PCV Line: Locate the PCV breather tube connected to the side of the intake. Squeeze the quick-disconnect tab and gently pull it straight off the factory intake nipple.
- Loosen the Clamps: Use an 8mm socket or a flathead screwdriver to loosen the factory hose clamps securing the intake tube to the throttle body and the airbox lid.
- Remove the Factory Intake: Pull the factory intake tube off the throttle body. Use a 10mm socket to remove the single bolt holding the lower airbox housing to the driver’s side fender well, then lift the entire factory assembly out of the truck.
- Extract the MAF Sensor: Use your T20 Torx driver to remove the two factory screws securing the MAF sensor to the OEM housing. Pull it out straight and set it in a clean, safe location.
Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Ford F-150 (2011-2014) 5.0L V8 Engine Black
- Transfer the MAF Sensor: Carefully insert your factory MAF sensor into the new Black Cold Air Intake tube. Secure it using the provided aftermarket hardware and the appropriate Allen wrench or Phillips screwdriver. Ensure the sensor is facing the correct direction of airflow and verify you do not touch the sensor wire.
- Mount the New Heat Shield: Assemble the aftermarket heat shield and drop it into the factory lower airbox mounting points. Secure it to the fender well using your 10mm socket and the factory mounting bolt.
- Position the Couplers: Slide the provided silicone couplers onto the throttle body and the new airbox filter adapter. Loosely slide the provided hose clamps over the couplers.
- Install the New Intake Tube: Seat the Black Cold Air Intake tube deeply into the throttle body and airbox couplers. Once perfectly aligned, tighten down all hose clamps securely with your 8mm socket.
- Reconnect Lines and Harnesses: Push the factory PCV quick-disconnect hose onto the new intake tube fitting until you hear it click. Plug the MAF sensor harness back in and push the red locking tab forward to secure it.
- Final Step: Reconnect the negative battery terminal with your 10mm wrench. On the first startup, the vehicle gas pedal should not be touched for a full 20 seconds until the ECU adjusts to the increased airflow volume.
