The Stock GS Induction Bottlenecks

The OEM intake assembly on the third-generation GS uses convoluted, accordion-style rubber couplers and multiple resonant chambers engineered exclusively for acoustic dampening. This design induces boundary-layer turbulence and restricts total CFM flow to the throttle body. Furthermore, the thin factory composite airbox readily absorbs radiant engine bay heat, driving up Intake Air Temperatures (IAT). Under sustained load, high IATs force the factory ECU to retard ignition timing, causing sluggish throttle response and parasitic power loss. Over time, the factory rubber intake tube also degrades, hardens, and risks unmetered air leaks downstream of the MAF sensor.

The Engineering Solution

Constructed with mandrel-bent T6-6061 aluminum piping, this intake system provides a continuous, uniform diameter that minimizes flow resistance and maximizes air velocity. A precision CNC-machined Mass Air Flow (MAF) adapter ensures factory-accurate fuel trims and eliminates lean check engine lights (CEL). The setup includes a high-flow, reusable conical air filter protected by a powder-coated steel heat shield that seals against the hood liner to effectively isolate the intake charge from radiant manifold heat, ensuring consistent density and power delivery across the rev range.
