The Stock Road King & Road Glide Intake Bottleneck

The OEM air box on 2008-2016 Touring models is engineered primarily for noise suppression and emissions compliance, resulting in a restrictive airflow path that chokes the Twin Cam engine. The factory paper filter element is prone to rapid clogging and creates significant air turbulence at higher RPMs, which limits volumetric efficiency. Additionally, the stock breather system often recirculates hot, oily crankcase vapors directly into the intake tract, which leads to carbon buildup on intake valves and can degrade combustion quality over time, especially in high-heat environments.

The Engineering Solution

This 10-spoke kit is constructed from a CNC-machined aluminum faceplate that serves as a heat-dissipating structural component. Unlike plastic OEM housings, this assembly features an integrated internal breathing passage, providing a 'super clean' installation that eliminates the need for unsightly external hoses and banjos. The high-flow synthetic filter is fully reusable—requiring only a simple wash and dry to maintain peak performance. By streamlining the intake path and providing a larger surface area for filtration, this kit reduces the pressure drop across the intake, allowing the Twin Cam 96 or 103 to pull more oxygen for a more complete combustion cycle and improved throttle response across the powerband.
