High-Output Ignition Coils for 2002-2008 Dodge & Jeep (PowerTech V6/V8)

What it Does: This set of high-performance ignition coils replaces the failure-prone UF270 factory units to restore ignition sequence precision and eliminate high-load misfires in 3.7L and 4.7L PowerTech engines.

The Stock PowerTech Weakness

The OEM ignition system in the Chrysler PowerTech engine family (3.7L V6 and 4.7L V8) is frequently compromised by thermal fatigue and dielectric breakdown. Because these coils are positioned deep within the cylinder head's spark plug wells, they are subjected to extreme heat soak. Over time, the factory epoxy resin develops micro-fractures, allowing voltage to leak to the engine block rather than reaching the spark plug gap. This degradation leads to intermittent stumbling, increased long-term fuel trims, and the dreaded P0300-P0308 misfire codes. Additionally, the stock internal windings often suffer from resistance fluctuations as they age, resulting in a weak spark that cannot effectively ignite the air-fuel mixture under the higher cylinder pressures seen during towing or uphill acceleration.

The Engineering Solution

These high-performance replacements are engineered with upgraded high-temperature silicone boots and a reinforced high-dielectric epoxy potting compound to resist thermal cracking. The internal secondary windings feature a higher density of copper wire, which increases the total voltage potential and spark duration. This ensures a more complete combustion cycle, even in leaner-running conditions common with aging vacuum systems. By utilizing a low-resistance magnetic core, these coils reduce the energy lost to heat within the unit itself, prolonging the life of the internal electronics. The included tune-up grease is essential for sealing the plug-to-coil interface, preventing moisture intrusion and corona discharge that can lead to carbon tracking and premature terminal failure.
