What it Does: Replaces failure-prone factory composite-tank units with a heavy-duty, all-aluminum crossflow cooling core designed to maximize heat dissipation and maintain stable engine and transmission fluid temperatures.
The Stock Grand Am Cooling Degradation
Factory GM N-body radiators rely on single-row aluminum cores bonded to molded plastic end tanks with crimped rubber gaskets. Over repeated thermal expansion cycles, these plastic end tanks become brittle, developing hairline stress fractures along the inlet neck and tank seams. The standard single-row layout also suffers from severe heat soak under demanding highway driving or spirited acceleration, pushing operating temperatures near critical thresholds on both four-cylinder and 3400 V6 applications.
The Engineering Solution
This direct bolt-on upgrade features a 100% TIG-welded, aircraft-grade aluminum construction, eliminating plastic end tanks and failure-prone crimped gaskets entirely. Built with an oversized 3-row crossflow racing core measuring 26-1/4 inches wide by 14-1/8 inches high, it drastically expands fluid capacity and surface area contact for improved convective cooling. It includes an integrated internal transmission oil cooler (TOC) with standard 1-5/16-inch inlet/outlet connections and comes complete with a high-pressure radiator cap.
