The Stock Xterra Cooling Weakness

Factory WD22 radiators rely on composite nylon end tanks crimped onto a thin aluminum core with rubber o-ring gaskets. Over years of thermal cycling, off-road vibration, and high system pressures, this plastic embrittles, cracks around the upper inlet neck, and separates at the crimp joints. A compromised OEM radiator causes rapid coolant loss, resulting in severe cylinder head warping or head gasket failure on both KA24DE and VG33 engines.

The Engineering Solution

Constructed with 100% aircraft-grade TIG-welded 5052 aluminum end tanks and a furnace-brazed aluminum core, this unit completely eliminates failure-prone plastic joints and crimp gaskets. The increased tube surface area and dense louvered fin pack optimize heat dissipation under prolonged low-airflow crawling conditions. It includes a built-in internal automatic transmission fluid heat exchanger and matches factory mounting brackets and shroud locations for direct installation.
