The Stock del Sol Cooling System Limitations

The factory OEM radiator on the EG1, EG2, and EH6 chassis was designed strictly for standard street commuting. Its single-row core and plastic end tanks present significant reliability issues as these vehicles age. Under sustained high RPMs, typical in spirited driving with high-revving D-Series and B-Series engines, the OEM unit suffers from rapid heat soak. The plastic end tanks undergo decades of thermal cycling, leading to brittle micro-fractures, eventual cracking, and catastrophic coolant loss at the crimped seams. This thermal inefficiency limits ignition timing advance and can induce dangerous pre-ignition.

The Engineering Solution

This replacement eliminates failure-prone plastic components by utilizing a 100% TIG-welded all-aluminum construction. The upgraded 3-row core maximizes heat dissipation surface area, significantly increasing overall fluid capacity. With a dense fin pitch and a robust 1.65-inch core thickness (13.78" x 14.03" dimensions), it optimizes heat transfer efficiency from the coolant to ambient airflow. The 1.10-inch (28mm) inlet and outlet precisely match factory hose routing for a direct fitment. By maintaining lower, stabilized operating temperatures, this unit prevents engine heat soak and protects cylinder head gaskets. A new high-pressure radiator cap is included to raise the system's boiling point.
