What it Does: Directly replaces the failure-prone factory plastic-tank radiator with a high-capacity, TIG-welded aluminum core engineered to maintain optimal engine and transmission operating temperatures under severe fleet and towing duty.

The Stock Savana Thermal Bottleneck

OEM radiators installed in GMT610 platform vans utilize crimped plastic end tanks bonded to a thin single-row aluminum core. Constant thermal cycling, combined with the compact engine bay of full-size vans, leads to accelerated plastic embrittlement, cracked end tanks, and leaky crimp seals. Under continuous low-speed idling or heavy payload demands, the restricted core volume allows coolant temperatures to climb rapidly, placing excessive thermal strain on both the 4.3L Vortec engine and the automatic transmission.

The Engineering Solution

This heavy-duty unit features a 3-row crossflow core constructed from 100% brazed aluminum with precision TIG-welded end tanks, eliminating mechanical crimp gaskets entirely. The multi-louvered fin and three-tier tube design significantly increases surface heat dissipation and coolant capacity over OEM single-row units. An integrated high-efficiency automatic transmission fluid cooler ensures fluid temperatures remain stabilized, protecting clutch packs and valves during sustained load cycles.
