High-Efficiency 3-Row Aluminum Performance Radiator for 2009-2012 GMC Canyon
Direct-Fit Cooling Upgrade: Replaces the failure-prone factory plastic-tank radiator with a TIG-welded, 3-row all-aluminum core designed to maintain optimal thermal regulation under heavy towing and high-load operating conditions.
The Stock Canyon Thermal Bottleneck
The factory GMT355 cooling system relies on a crimped plastic end-tank design with a thin, single-row core. Under sustained thermal cycling and heavy torque loads from the 5.3L LH8/LH9 V8, the factory plastic tanks become brittle, causing stress cracks at the tank-to-core crimp seals. Additionally, the narrow stock core quickly succumbs to heat soak when towing or idling in high ambient temperatures, driving coolant and transmission fluid temperatures into critical zones.
The Engineering Solution
This drop-in unit eliminates OEM failure points using 100% aircraft-grade aluminum construction with precision TIG-welded tanks. The 3-row downflow racing tube configuration maximizes surface contact area and fluid dwell time, yielding a significant increase in heat rejection efficiency over stock. It features an integrated internal M14 x 1.5 transmission oil cooler to stabilize automatic transmission fluid temps, reinforced mounting brackets, and a high-pressure radiator cap tested to prevent cavitation under heavy loads.
