The Stock SN95 Mustang Cooling Shortcoming

The factory radiator equipped on 1997-2004 Mustangs utilizes plastic end tanks crimped to a relatively thin aluminum core. Over time, constant thermal cycling, engine bay heat, and chassis vibration cause these plastic end tanks to become brittle, eventually leading to hairline cracks and catastrophic coolant loss. Furthermore, the OEM core lacks the fluid capacity and surface area required to reject heat effectively during high-RPM driving, forced induction builds, or track days, resulting in severe heat soak and thermal degradation that robs engine power.

The Engineering Solution

This performance radiator upgrades the cooling system with full AA5052 aluminum construction and a high-efficiency tube and fin core design measuring 635 x 428 x 44mm (25.00" x 16.85" x 1.73"). By increasing the core thickness and optimizing fin density, this radiator expands the heat-dissipating surface area, achieving a 35% to 45% improvement in cooling efficiency over the stock configuration. The fully TIG-welded aluminum end tanks eliminate the failure-prone plastic crimps, ensuring structural integrity under high pressure.
