The Stock Escape Cooling Vulnerability

Factory CD2 platform radiators utilize plastic end tanks crimped to an aluminum core using rubber gaskets. Over repeated thermal cycles, engine vibration and continuous pressure fluctuations cause the nylon plastic to turn brittle, leading to micro-cracking at the inlet neck and tank seams. Additionally, the restricted single-row OEM core struggles to dissipate adequate BTU volume during severe duty cycles, stop-and-go driving, or towing with the 3.0L V6, causing rapid heat soak and dangerous coolant temperature spikes.

The Engineering Solution

This drop-in performance upgrade features an all-aluminum crossflow construction built with 2 mm thick AA5052 aircraft-grade aluminum end tanks and 100% precision TIG welds, completely eliminating fail-prone plastic and crimped seals. The vacuum-brazed 3-row core measures 27-5/8 in x 18-1/16 in with cooling rows spaced 3/8 in apart and a high-density 14-16 fins-per-inch (FPI) pitch, maximizing surface area for rapid heat transfer. Complete with an OEM-style brass petcock drain, 1.25 in inlet, and 1.5 in outlet, it ensures maximum fluid velocity and structural rigidity.
