O2 Oxygen Sensor Upstream Downstream for Ford Explorer Sport Trac (2001-2010) 4.0L, 4.6L

Direct-Fit Oxygen Sensor Set for 2001-2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac (U152 / U251)

What it Does: The 4-piece direct-fit O2 sensor set replaces degraded upstream and downstream exhaust probes on the 2001-2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac to re-establish accurate stoichiometric air-fuel feedback and resolve catalyst efficiency fault codes.

The Stock Ford Explorer Sport Trac Exhaust Sensor Degradation

Over extended operating cycles, factory exhaust sensors succumb to silicone fouling, carbon buildup, and sustained thermal stress within the catalytic converter downpipes. On the U152 and U251 platforms, aging zirconia thimbles lose electrochemical responsiveness, causing sluggish switching rates between rich and lean states. This sensor latency forces the powertrain control module into skewed long-term fuel trim corrections, inducing severe fuel dilution, unstable idle oscillation, elevated emissions, and stubborn diagnostic trouble codes including P0130, P0161, P0420, and P0430.

The Engineering Solution

Engineered for high-heat duty cycles, these replacement sensors feature rapid-fire internal ceramic heating elements designed to reach operational closed-loop temperatures within seconds of cold start. Double-laser welded 304 stainless steel housings isolate internal platinum-doped sensing elements from moisture, road salts, and exhaust soot contamination. Each probe matches OEM wire harness gauge, heat shielding, and terminal lock pins to allow direct connection to the factory loom without wire splicing. High-tolerance M18x1.5 threads ensure positive mechanical sealing against exhaust bungs to prevent pre-catalyst atmospheric oxygen ingress.

Frequently Asked Questions & Fitment Warnings

Does this fit the U152 and U251 Explorer Sport Trac?

Yes, this is a direct fit for the 2001-2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac equipped with the 4.0L Cologne V6 and 4.6L Modular V8 engines across all factory drive configurations.

Do I need to flash the ECU or perform a tune after installation?

No aftermarket tune is needed; simply clear your stored DTC codes and cycle the ignition so the vehicle's engine computer resets adaptive fuel trims with fresh baseline signals.

The Ford Truck Durability Standard

Heavy hauling and off-road work require accurate fueling data under high load demands. Replacing all four exhaust oxygen sensors at the same service interval ensures steady closed-loop management, protecting catalytic bricks from raw fuel washout while pulling payloads or traversing steep trail grades.
