Direct-Replacement Ignition Coil & Iridium Spark Plugs for 2010-2017 GMC Terrain

Restoring spark energy and combustion efficiency: This comprehensive ignition overhaul kit replaces degraded OEM ignition coils and worn spark plugs to eliminate misfires, rough idling, and hesitation under load.

The Stock Terrain Ignition Weakness

Over time, the factory High Feature V6 ignition system is subjected to severe thermal cycling and engine bay heat soak, particularly in the tightly packed GMT191 chassis. This constant heat degrades the epoxy insulation within the factory ignition coils, leading to internal voltage leaks and primary winding resistance shifts. Simultaneously, standard or aged spark plugs experience electrode erosion, increasing the spark gap. This forces the ignition coils to work harder to jump the gap, creating excessive secondary voltage requirements that accelerate coil failure and result in cylinder misfires, reduced fuel economy, and poor throttle response.

The Engineering Solution

This upgraded ignition kit resolves these issues by utilizing advanced construction materials and modern plug design. The replacement ignition coils feature upgraded dielectric epoxy resins and high-grade copper wire windings, ensuring consistent voltage output and resistance to thermal breakdown even under heavy load. Paired with laser-welded iridium spark plugs, the system benefits from an ultra-fine center electrode that requires less secondary voltage to ignite the air-fuel mixture. The iridium alloy provides exceptional resistance to spark erosion, maintaining optimal gap spacing for long-term reliability. This combination ensures a highly concentrated, reliable spark, restoring the LFX and LF1 engine's factory power delivery and smoothing out the idle.
