The Stock Sable Ignition Degradation

The factory coil-on-plug (COP) units in the 3.5L Duratec engine bay are subjected to continuous thermal cycling within deep cylinder head wells. Over time, OEM epoxy potting degrades and silicone insulator boots harden, leading to dielectric breakdown, micro-arcing, and internal copper winding degradation. Compounded by widened gaps from worn factory plugs, the ignition system struggles to jump the gap under load, resulting in P0300–P0306 DTC misfire codes, rough running, and premature catalytic converter degradation from unburnt hydrocarbons.

The Engineering Solution

This full tune-up kit replaces worn ignition components with six heavy-duty coil packs featuring high-conductivity electrolytic copper windings encased in high-grade dielectric epoxy for maximum resistance to thermal breakdown. Paired with six fine-wire iridium spark plugs, the assembly lowers the required firing voltage while generating a hotter, more stable flame kernel. Direct-fit blade terminals and heavy-duty silicone boots provide sealed connections against moisture and flashover.
