What it Does: Replaces restrictive factory exhaust manifolds with wider, high-flow mid-length headers to significantly reduce exhaust gas back pressure and increase volumetric efficiency.

The Stock M113 V8 Restrictive Manifold Flaw

The factory cast iron exhaust manifolds on the M113 5.0L V8 were engineered primarily for packaging efficiency and emissions compliance, resulting in severe exhaust gas bottlenecks. The OEM design utilizes short, unevenly cast runners that force exhaust pulses to collide. This creates excessive back pressure and localized heat soak near the cylinder head. This turbulence drastically restricts scavenging capabilities at higher RPMs, preventing the engine from evacuating spent gases effectively. Over time, this thermal and fluid restriction limits power output and completely suppresses the aggressive exhaust note inherent to the 5.0L V8 architecture.

The Engineering Solution

These mid-length, high-flow exhaust headers are geometrically optimized to alleviate restrictive factory bottlenecks. Utilizing widened primary tubes, the system ensures laminar exhaust flow, minimizing exhaust pulse collisions and drastically lowering back pressure. This fluid dynamic improvement directly enhances cylinder scavenging, allowing the engine to breathe freely and ingest a denser air-fuel mixture. For naturally aspirated 5.0L V8 applications, expect a 7 to 10 percent increase in horsepower and torque. Supercharged M113K variants will achieve up to 15 percent gains due to the higher volume of expelled gases. The kit includes integrated downpipes designed for a custom weld-in installation, delivering a deeper, more aggressive resonance.
