Mechanic’s Pro Tip (The "Gotcha"):
The 9th Gen K24Z7 community universally hates the massive factory lower intake resonator. To pull it out without breaking brittle plastics, use a panel popper to carefully remove the push-clips on the driver’s side fender liner. Bend the liner back gently—don’t force it. Also, the factory MAF sensor screws strip instantly if you use a worn screwdriver. Apply firm downward pressure when removing them, and NEVER touch the exposed wire element on the sensor!

Phase 1: Removing the Factory Part for the 2012-2015 Honda Civic 2.4L

  1. Disconnect the Battery: Always start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench to prevent check engine lights and protect the ECU.
  2. Remove the MAF Sensor: Unplug the wiring harness. Use a #2 Phillips screwdriver to carefully extract the two screws securing the Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor to the factory upper airbox. Pull it straight out, place it in a clean plastic baggie, and set it safely aside.
  3. Disconnect Breather Hoses: Use pliers to pinch and slide back the spring clamp on the factory rubber PCV breather hose. Gently twist to break the seal and pull the hose off the intake tube. These tear easily on older K24 engines, so take your time.
  4. Remove the Upper Airbox and Tube: Loosen the throttle body hose clamp using an 8mm nut driver. Unbolt the upper airbox housing using your 10mm socket and extension, then pull the entire upper assembly out of the engine bay.
  5. Extract the Lower Resonator (The Forum Headache): Use your panel popper tool to remove the clips securing the driver’s side front fender liner. Peel the liner back to expose the hidden lower resonator box. Remove the mounting bolts with a 10mm socket and wrestle the plastic box down and out of the bumper cavity.

Phase 2: Installing the Cold Air Intake for Honda Civic Si (2012-2015) 2.4L Engine - Red

  1. Install the Silicone Coupler: Slide the provided silicone reducer onto the throttle body. Secure the throttle body side with a hose clamp and tighten it down snugly using an 8mm nut driver. Leave the clamp for the intake pipe side loose for now.
  2. Mount the New Intake Pipe: Carefully snake the red aluminum intake pipe down into the engine bay where the old resonator used to live. Slide the upper end into the silicone coupler on the throttle body. Bolt the pipe’s welded mounting bracket to the chassis using the supplied hardware and a 10mm socket.
  3. Transfer the MAF Sensor: Carefully insert your factory MAF sensor into the CNC-machined flange on the new intake pipe. Secure it using the newly provided Allen bolts (do NOT reuse the factory Phillips screws). Plug the factory wiring harness back in until it clicks.
  4. Attach Breather Hose and Filter: Connect the supplied PCV breather hose to the nipple on the intake pipe. Down in the fender well, slide the red conical air filter onto the bottom of the intake pipe and tighten the clamp with an 8mm nut driver. Double-check all clamps and bracket bolts to ensure they are fully seated.
  5. Perform the ECU Idle Relearn: Reconnect the negative battery terminal with your 10mm wrench. Start the vehicle. Do not touch the gas pedal for 20 seconds. Let the vehicle idle uninterrupted so the ECU can calibrate to the increased airflow without throwing a lean code.
