Over continuous thermal cycling and heavy towing duty with either the 3.6L or 5.7L powerplant, these composite tanks embrittle, warp, and develop stress fractures along the crimp seam. Internal pressure surges eventually cause seal failure, leading to localized coolant aeration, elevated operating temps, and premature engine overheating.
