The OEM Heat Soak Problem

Bare exhaust manifolds and tubular headers radiate extreme heat directly into the engine bay. This constant thermal radiation causes severe heat soak in surrounding critical components, including intake tracts, wiring harnesses, electronic sensors, and fluid reservoirs. Elevated under-hood temperatures drastically reduce the density of the intake air charge, leading to a measurable loss in engine horsepower and torque. Furthermore, allowing exhaust gases to cool prematurely within the uninsulated piping decreases exhaust scavenging efficiency, leading to slower exhaust flow, increased backpressure, and sluggish turbo spool.

The Engineering Solution

Wrapping exhaust components with this heavy-duty fiberglass thermal tape actively isolates the heat within the exhaust system. Rated to withstand 2000°F of radiant heat, the 1/16-inch thick, tightly woven fiberglass matrix creates a robust thermal barrier. By keeping the exhaust gases hotter, their density decreases and velocity increases, significantly improving exhaust scavenging dynamics and lowering spool times for turbocharged applications. The 2-inch width and 50-foot length (provided in 2 rolls) ensure optimal overlap and coverage during installation on complex header bends and collectors. Curing Note: During the initial heat cycles, the wrap undergoes a curing period (1-5 days depending on EGTs). Expect natural smoke off-gassing and temporary discoloration. Once fully cured, the material will transition to a baseline grayish/brownish tone.
