The Stock Heat Management Shortcoming

Uninsulated cast iron or thin-walled stainless steel factory manifolds radiate immense amounts of infrared heat directly into the engine bay. This radiant heat causes severe heat soak in surrounding engine components, specifically plastic intake manifolds, wiring harnesses, and air induction systems. Elevated under-hood temperatures directly reduce the air density entering the intake, causing the ECU to pull ignition timing and enrich the fuel mixture, which ultimately robs the engine of combustion efficiency and horsepower. Furthermore, the rapid cooling of unprotected exhaust gases slows down overall exhaust velocity, creating unwanted backpressure and reducing turbocharger spool efficiency in forced-induction setups.

The Engineering Solution

This thermal wrapping kit physically encapsulates the exhaust plumbing, trapping the thermal energy within the headers. Constructed from a premium fiberglass matrix rated for extreme temperatures up to 3000° Fahrenheit, the 1/16" thick and 2" wide wrap forces the exhaust gases to retain their heat. Hotter exhaust gases have decreased density and flow at a significantly higher velocity, dramatically improving exhaust scavenging effects and cylinder evacuation. By drastically reducing radiant heat, it drops overall engine bay temperatures, protecting sensitive electronics and preventing intake heat soak. Note: The wrap undergoes a standard 1 to 5-day curing period. Temporary smoke and discoloration are natural by-products as binding agents bake off, eventually stabilizing to a standard grayish/brownish hue.
