The Stock F-250, F-350 Exhaust Weakness
The 1994-1997 OBS Powerstroke factory up pipes utilize a rigid crush-style donut gasket design that is notorious for degrading over time. Due to intense thermal cycling, these OEM pipes frequently crack and leak exhaust drive pressure before it reaches the turbine. This translates directly to sluggish spool times, higher exhaust gas temperatures (EGTs), and a severe loss of power and fuel economy. Additionally, the factory Exhaust Back Pressure Valve (EBPV) actuator rod located in the turbo pedestal is heavily prone to leaking oil as the internal seals deteriorate, leaving messy oil drips and creating potential engine starvation risks if left unaddressed.
The Engineering Solution
This drop-in replacement kit solves these inherent design flaws by eliminating the EBPV entirely with a high-flow, non-EBPV pedestal and matching turbine housing. By removing the restrictive butterfly valve, exhaust flow to the turbine is optimized for faster spooling and lower EGTs. Furthermore, the included heavy-duty bellowed up pipes are constructed from durable 409 stainless steel. Unlike the factory rigid pipes, these engineered bellows allow for the natural expansion and contraction caused by extreme exhaust heat. This permanently prevents gasket blowout and pipe cracking, ensuring maximum drive pressure reaches the turbocharger. The kit includes all necessary hardware and gaskets for a permanent fix for factory oil and exhaust leaks.
