The Stock Suburban Plenum Restriction
The factory TBI configuration on GMT400 platform Suburbans positions dual injectors directly over the throttle bores, delivering fuel into an abrupt, shallow intake plenum transition. Under low-RPM towing loads and tip-in acceleration, this restricted entry induces localized charge turbulence and fuel pooling. This dampens manifold vacuum signal recovery, causing sluggish off-idle throttle response and uneven air-fuel distribution across the intake runners.
The Engineering Solution
CNC-machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminum, this spacer extends runner length and expands plenum volume directly beneath the TBI baseplate. The bore design accelerates boundary-layer airflow to promote finer fuel atomization before entering the manifold runners. Finished in a corrosion-resistant anodized coating, the rigid aluminum spacer resists warping and intake vacuum leaks across high thermal cycles.
