High-Torque Direct-Fit Starter Motor for 2006-2010 Jeep Commander (XK)

What it Does: The replacement starter motor delivers high-torque cranking to reliably turn over the PowerTech 3.7L V6 on 2006-2010 Jeep Commander vehicles, eliminating intermittent no-starts and slow engine roll-over.

The Stock Jeep Commander Starter Failure

The factory starter on the XK platform is positioned low along the engine block where it is exposed to thermal cycling from nearby exhaust runners and trail debris. Over time, radiant heat soak degrades internal solenoid contacts and causes brush wear within the motor housing. This breakdown manifests as single-click or rapid-click no-starts, sluggish cranking despite full battery voltage, and dragging bendix drives that can strip teeth on the flexplate ring gear.

The Engineering Solution

This replacement unit utilizes a 12-volt Permanent Magnet Gear Reduction (PMGR) architecture designed to generate high breakaway torque with reduced current draw compared to conventional direct-drive units. Built with heavy-duty solenoid contacts, heat-resistant copper field windings, and a case-hardened bendix drive gear, this unit ensures immediate pinion engagement and consistent cranking rpm in extreme thermal ranges. Every unit matches the OEM XK mounting flange geometry and factory terminal studs for direct bolt-on installation.
