The Stock Bonneville Cooling System Weakness
Factory radiators in the tenth-generation Bonneville utilize composite plastic end-tanks crimped onto a thin single-row aluminum core. Over continuous thermal cycles, underhood heat soak from the 3800 Series II engine degrades the plastic tanks, leading to stress fractures at the inlet/outlet necks and catastrophic crimp-seal seam leaks. Furthermore, supercharged L67 applications generate substantial thermal loads that exceed the dissipation limits of the narrow stock core, leading to elevated coolant temperatures and heat-induced ignition timing retard.
The Engineering Solution
Constructed entirely from aircraft-grade aluminum, this heavy-duty unit features a high-density 3-row crossflow core measuring 30-1/2 inches wide by 15-5/16 inches high. The reinforced end tanks are 100% TIG-welded to eliminate failure-prone mechanical gaskets. Featuring an integrated 11-1/2 inch transmission oil cooler and standard 1-1/4 inch inlet and 1-1/2 inch outlet connections, this 100% leak-tested assembly drops directly into factory mounts without modifications, vastly improving fluid velocity and heat rejection.
