Under prolonged thermal cycling and operating pressures, the composite inlet and outlet necks suffer from embrittlement, resulting in stress cracking, gasket blowouts, and sudden coolant loss. Furthermore, the restrictive single-row design struggles to dissipate heat during severe summer driving, leading to thermal heat soak, elevated cylinder head temperatures in both Ecotec/Twin Cam four-cylinders and 3400 V6 engines, and excessive transmission fluid operating temperatures.
The Engineering Solution
Built entirely from aircraft-grade aluminum, this performance unit features a precision TIG-welded, 3-row crossflow core that significantly increases fluid capacity and surface dissipation area over stock. By eliminating plastic end tanks and failure-prone crimp seals, it handles higher cooling system pressures without rupture. The core measures 26-1/4 inches wide by 14-1/8 inches high with standard 1-5/16-inch inlet and outlet ports for direct bolt-on installation. It includes an integrated internal transmission oil cooler to maintain optimal fluid viscosity and prolong automatic transmission life.
