The Stock GT-R Cooling Limitation

The factory R35 cooling module uses plastic end-tanks crimped to a thin aluminum core. Under repetitive boost cycles and hard track sessions, high thermal loads and hydraulic pressure cause severe thermal saturation, elevated coolant temps, and eventual fatigue cracking along the plastic-to-aluminum crimp seams. Additionally, high coolant temperatures exacerbate heat transfer to the integrated transmission loop, leading to dual-clutch transmission limp modes.

The Engineering Solution

This high-capacity unit features a 3-row downflow core constructed with AA5052 aircraft-grade aluminum end tanks and 100% precision TIG-welded seams, eliminating brittle factory plastic failure points. The vacuum-brazed core measures 29.06 in x 17.72 in with high-density fin packing at 14-16 fins per inch and 3/8-inch tube spacing to drastically maximize convective surface area and heat dissipation. A built-in high-flow transmission oil cooler (TOC) stabilizes GR6 transmission fluid temperatures under continuous track operation.
