The Stock Grand Cherokee Thermal Vulnerability

Factory WJ radiators rely on crimped plastic end tanks bonded to an aluminum core with elastomeric gaskets. Over repeated thermal cycles, the high operating temperatures of the 4.7L V8 cause the plastic to embrittle, leading to micro-fractures, separated tank seams, and sudden coolant loss under load. Additionally, the restrictive OEM single-row core struggles with heat dissipation during low-speed trail crawling or heavy towing, triggering chronic heat soak.

The Engineering Solution

Built with AA5052 aircraft-grade aluminum tanks and a vacuum-brazed 2-row core, this unit is 100% TIG-welded without failure-prone epoxy joints. The dual-row tube configuration features rows spaced 3/8-inch apart with 14-16 fins per inch (FPI) for maximum surface-area heat rejection. It includes an integrated internal transmission oil cooler for automatic transmissions, a CNC-machined filler neck with cap, and a durable brass OEM-style petcock drain.
