Constant heat cycling from the cast-iron 4.0L block causes the polymer tanks and internal rubber gaskets to embrittle, leading to seam separation and coolant loss. Under off-camber trail loads, continuous low-speed rock crawling, or high-ambient towing, the thin stock core suffers from severe heat soak, pushing engine and transmission temperatures past safe operating margins.

The Engineering Solution

This drop-in unit features an all-aluminum crossflow construction with a 4-row racing tube core, fully TIG-welded to rigid aluminum end tanks. By eliminating crimped plastic junctions, it eliminates high-pressure leak points entirely. The expanded 4-row layout significantly increases fluid capacity and fin surface contact area to accelerate heat dissipation. It includes an integrated internal transmission oil cooler specifically matched for the 42RE automatic gearbox, maintaining optimal fluid viscosity under heavy loads.
