The Stock Camaro Cooling Vulnerability

Factory 4th Generation F-Body radiators utilize plastic composite end tanks crimped onto an undersized single-row aluminum core. Over time, relentless engine bay thermal cycling degrades the plastic, causing micro-fractures, tank blowouts, and gasket leakage at the crimp seams. Furthermore, the limited surface area of the stock core fails to dissipate heat effectively during spirited driving or extended idling, causing severe coolant temperature spikes and heat soak that degrades automatic transmission fluid.

The Engineering Solution

Manufactured entirely from 2 mm AA5052 aircraft-grade aluminum, this crossflow performance unit features 100% TIG-welded end tanks and a vacuum-brazed 3-row core measuring 17-3/4 in x 25 in. Cooling tubes spaced 3/8 in apart combined with a high-density 14-16 fins per inch (FPI) pattern provide maximum surface contact for superior convective heat transfer. It includes a built-in M12x1.25 transmission oil cooler (TOC) and a durable OEM-style brass petcock drain for dependable fluid maintenance.
