High-Flow Long Tube Exhaust Header for 2006-2011 Honda Civic

Replaces the restrictive factory cast iron manifold and integrated catalytic converter to significantly reduce exhaust backpressure and maximize exhaust gas scavenging.

The Stock Civic Exhaust Restriction

The factory R18 cast manifold is engineered primarily for rapid catalyst light-off and manufacturing cost reduction, resulting in severe exhaust gas restriction. The integrated catalytic converter creates a massive choke point right at the cylinder head, increasing localized heat soak and driving up exhaust gas temperatures (EGTs). This inherent backpressure limits the engine's volumetric efficiency, stifling high-RPM horsepower and mid-range torque, while heavily dampening exhaust velocity. Furthermore, extreme thermal cycling over years of use can lead to stress cracks in the dense OEM cast unit, leading to exhaust leaks and inaccurate oxygen sensor readings.

The Engineering Solution

This long tube header eliminates the factory bottleneck by utilizing computerized mandrel-bent, high-quality stainless steel tubing. The precise bends maintain a constant inner diameter, promoting optimal exhaust gas velocity and uninterrupted laminar flow out of the combustion chamber. Utilizing a massive 3.5-inch inlet transitioning to a 2.5-inch outlet via a large bell-mouth design, it maximizes exhaust scavenging effects to draw spent gases out efficiently. Heavy-duty 3/8-inch thick CNC-machined flanges ensure a completely flat, warp-free seal against the cylinder head, while double-pass TIG welding guarantees structural integrity under continuous extreme temperatures. This fluid dynamic design frees up an estimated 10 to 15 horsepower and torque by allowing the 1.8L to breathe without restriction.
