Direct-Fit Ignition Coil and Spark Plug Kit for 2006-2014 Volkswagen Golf GTI (Mk5 / Mk6)
What it Does: The direct-fit ignition coil and spark plug kit restores factory spark energy and cylinder combustion efficiency across the rev range on the 2006-2014 Volkswagen Golf GTI.
The Stock Volkswagen Golf GTI Ignition System Degradation
Factory coil packs on the EA113 and EA888 2.0T engines are prone to thermal breakdown due to engine bay heat soak and high secondary winding resistance. Over time, internal epoxy insulation deteriorates, causing high-load spark blowout, intermittent misfires under boost, and erratic idle. Coupled with electrode erosion on aged spark plugs, increased gap resistance places excessive strain on the internal primary circuit, often triggering diagnostic trouble codes such as P0300 through P0304.
The Engineering Solution
This replacement ignition overhaul kit features heavy-duty coil-on-plug modules built with high-dielectric epoxy potting and heat-resistant silicone boots to insulate against voltage leaks and flashover. Paired with pre-gapped premium NGK spark plugs engineered for forced-induction cylinder pressures, the system delivers consistent secondary output voltage across high-RPM operation. Swapping both components simultaneously eliminates uneven dwell-time variances, restores crisp throttle response, stabilizes cylinder combustion, and protects upstream catalytic converters from unburned hydrocarbons.
What's Included
- 4 Ignition Coils
- 4 NGK Spark Plugs

Frequently Asked Questions & Fitment Warnings
Does this fit the Mk5 / Mk6 Golf GTI?
Yes, this is a direct fit for the 2006-2014 Volkswagen Golf GTI equipped with the 2.0L EA113 and EA888 engines. Confirm engine displacement and coil connector style before ordering; not intended for non-GTI models or other displacements.
Should spark plugs and coils be installed at the same time?
Yes, replacing plugs and coils concurrently ensures uniform secondary resistance across all cylinders, preventing premature wear on new components.
The Volkswagen Precision Caliber
European turbocharged engines demand tightly calibrated ignition timing and clean arc delivery; this kit matches strict factory dwell requirements to maintain peak efficiency without triggering spurious check engine lights.
